WDW Marathon – to register soon or not?

February 6, 2008 By: Runner Leana

Sigh, Disney is just itching to get my money as quickly as possible. I was hoping to hold off on registering for the 2009 marathon until they started posting capacity updates thanks to:
  • My trip to Australia and Disney World…
  • Spending $80 to order the full marathon official race photos (it was my first marathon, I thought I should)…
  • All of the races I have already registered for…
  • The purchase of a plane ticket or two…
  • And the fact that I’m off to Lost Wages, aka Las Vegas, this weekend…

However the registration fee goes up from $110 to $125 on March 1st so I better get off my duff and commit my Canadian pesos to the race. Also, for anyone thinking of racing Disney next year apparently the half and full marathon medals are being redesigned. Sigh, I am such a sucker for the bling!

I am also a sucker for the bling! I think you should register before the price increases!

Registration for Chicago is open too! 😉

Have fun in Las Vegas! Maybe you’ll be able to win enough to pay for your racing in 2008 / 09.

I didn’t register for Disney last year until August! And even then it was only %85 full. I am afraid I won’t have that long to make a decision this year. And was it only $90 last year? They sure did bump that price up!

    Have fun in Vegas 🙂

Lost Wages…never been, however we do have the largest casino in the world and a smaller one here in the great state of CT, so I have plenty of opportunity to throw my money at random, independent events while trying to recall freshman year statistics in my head.

Take advantage of the price before the reset.

Good to know about the price increase. I guess I’m going to have to suck it up and decide what I’m doing huh.

I did go see KA…it was awesome. I hadn’t ever seen a Cirque du Soile show…but it’s not ‘different’ like Zumanity appears to be, it’s just pretty darn cool. Have fun!

Wait, let me get this straight, you’re putting yourself in the poorhouse this pay period with all kinds of trips and race fees… but you’re worried about $15? I mean, with the exchange rate, that’s $14.95 Canadian. Don’t make me translate this into lattes…

As long as you sign up eventually, who cares?

Yeah, the bling is nice…one of these years I’m going Goofy for it.

Registration for Twin Cities is opening up on April 18th…there are people coming from all over the country and we don’t have any Canadians I don’t think yet…mostly people from an online yahoo group I’m part of, but I’m all for getting bloggers out there too!!

That’s a tough call!!! I’m all about trying new races though, especially at the marathon level (meaning I would try and do different marathons before I do the same one a second time…) Am I making sense!?! lol this seems hard to explain.

    Good luck figuring it out!

Oh and if you’re looking at coming east for a real cool race, Around the Bay (30K) is the oldest race in Noth America (even older than Boston) and it’s a blast. Almost full though! 500 spots left.

    Here is the link: http://www.aroundthebayroadrace.com/

I will let you know if I get down to Montreal for the half.
