A Thank You Letter

July 25, 2008 By: Runner Leana

Dear Sir driving the blue pick up like you stole it:

Thank you for blaring your horn at me as I was riding up Silver Springs Blvd in the right hand lane, 8.5 miles into my ride home. As I seem to recall I was about as far over in the right hand lane as possible. I did not realize that you would have preferred it if I rode in the ditch, in the grass, or on the sidewalk. Perhaps you were not aware that Silver Springs Blvd is designated as an on-street bikeway. And also, thank you so much for continuing to blare your horn at me as you drove within a few feet of my handlebars despite having an empty left hand lane that you could have moved into. My heart really was in need of a good shock to the system, I just didn’t realize it at the time.

Sincerely,

Biker Leana

Seriously…what is wrong with these people??

Ugh..you have to hate some people. Unfortunately, we cyclists have to deal with these a**holes all the time…let’s just be glad that you came out of it just fine.

I don’t know if it’s the heat or the fact that so many more people are riding their bikes nowadays….but the drivers seem to forget that we are supposed to SHARE the road.

This is why one must always keep a bag of poop in one’s jersey pocket to fling at just such assholes. In another pocket one should keep a pen and paper to write down a license plate number.

I got heckled by a pre-teen today. What IS it with people wanting to mess with bikers?! I just don’t get it?! Even in CANADA?!

Man what’s with all these two wheeled freaks taking over the road, don’t they know the road is for us motorists. God we have to go at least 40k (in the states 25mph) over the posted speed limit, while blaring the music and talking on the cell phone, and checking the blackberry. These crazy cyclist are going to be the death of us.

Ok my sarcasim to Asshole motorists aside, I feel your pain, I was rubbing against a guardrail and still got honked at and told to “get off the road!” Needless to say that is why I usually drive out to the country to ride, and I do try to give cyclists room ( although I did honk at one guy because I know him.)
