So I finally had a chance to get some computer time in the lounge in Quebec City before my flight leaves this morning. The short story on the Marathon Des Deux Rives is I finished in 5:11:03 which was a PR by about 1:10 give or take. Really not a bad effort but the truth is I am dissappointed though. The day started off really well and just went majorly downhill around the 18 mile mark:
First 21.1km: 2:23:37
Second 21.1km: 2:47:26
I do have to say that the race was absolutely fabulous though and despite not being happy with my time I really enjoyed the experience. I promise a more detailed report soon though!
I understand you disappointment, sounds like my 2nd marathon. But the fact is that you ran another marathon and that’s totally awesome. It was hot and the last 14K had no shade so considering the conditions, I think you did fantastic. I sent a letter to the race director about an early start….

Congratulations on taking an hour off your previous marathon time! That is great! I do understand your feeling of disappointment but still can’t help but think what an accomplishment!
