New Gizmo

December 7, 2008 By: Runner Leana

I am blogging to you from my brand new HP Pavilion laptop. On Thursday morning I woke up, went downstairs to check my e-mail on my old Dell, then went back upstairs to get ready for work. When I went to leave for work my screen was surprisingly black… The final diagnosis was a burned out screen, which given the age of the machine and ridiculously small amount of memory it had it just wasn’t worth repairing. The good news was that all my data was salvageable and I’m now the proud (although somewhat unwitting) owner of a rather slick new machine.

Today’s workout was a spinning one that coach calls TV strength. Spinning intervals are timed based off of commercial breaks in a one hour TV show. Since I haven’t run cable in to the garage yet I followed the option to ride to music. After warming up I rode easy for two songs, high cadence for a song, back to easy for two songs, then one song at a strong low cadence. I’ve been on a downloading kick lately discovering some new tunes, so it was a good opportunity to listen to them. It was also fun to break things up by music as opposed to strictly following a workout for time. What were some of the tunes on my spin list?

  • Lady GaGa – Poker Face
  • LCD Soundsystem – Daft Punk Is Playing At My House
  • Bloc Party – Banquet
  • Snow Patrol – Crack the Shutters
  • Nickelback – Something In Your Mouth
  • Fall Out Boy – I Don’t Care

After that I got out there for a 10 minute tempo run followed by 5 minutes of easy running. Tomorrow is a big run… 20 miles… Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Nice job on the workout and thanks for the music rec’s.

My instructor always breaks up our workout into songs and it really makes it more enjoyable. It’s also nice knowing we get a mini breather in between hard sets.

Enjoy your new toy! I’m in the market for a laptop soon. 🙂
