My friend Angry has been telling me I need to swim with the fast folks to start pushing myself to get speedy. Well…today was my chance I guess! I shared a lane with my friend J. J…is fast. Let’s just say she kicked some serious behind at Ironman Canada this past year. We had a 1500 m time trial on our schedule today, and since we didn’t have that many people show up for class this morning J hopped into my lane. Yeah, lets just say that I’m not quite ready to swim with the Kona qualifiers quite yet…

I had another 45 minute run with strides on my schedule for over lunch today. This time my Garmin was charged which already made the strides this week successful. My hip flexor was a bit tight to start off with, but everything loosened up and felt good about 15 minutes in.

For those of you interested in the Sport Wash versus WIN detergent debate, I tried an interesting experiment today. I wore my two stinkiest shirts – one that had most recently been washed in Sport Wash, the other in WIN. After the run I was really….stinky… My apologies to those who rode in the elevator with me. I guess that is what happens when you wear two shirts, plus a long sleeve bike jersey over top! Anyhow, the Sport Wash shirt was the definite smell offender after the run. I really sniffed the WIN shirt but nothing. Kinda gross I know, but all in the name of research. And the interesting part? The stinky shirt was the middle layered shirt. My base layer was completely non-stinky! So I give two thumbs up for WIN!!

    Embrace the stench!

I think the level of stench is directly related to speed and effort exerted on the event, why would I want to erase it?

To get fast, you have to pretend you are fast first. Go get’em!

That’s awesome! I was literally just about to search for comparisons of the two, because I have Sport Wash and I haven’t noticed it helping *at all.* I guess I’ll try WIN and see if I can get rid of the stench.

Everytime a fast swimmer wants to lap with me, I damn near drown trying not to hold up traffic!
