Yup, I’ve been pretty quiet lately. My ride on Saturday was only 120K (did I really just say that it was ONLY 120K???) and it did not go well. I was pretty demoralized and upset after it was over and I didn’t even upload my workout data off of my Garmin until just now. Friday morning. I had a good chat with Angie and my friends about it and the ride is done. Moving on!
I am a mixed bag of emotions. I am excited, nervous, ready to barf/cry at the drop of a hat, and somewhat wishing it was August 30th already. I still have to write up a race plan but I’ve been swamped trying to finish things up at work before I leave on Sunday. I have a lot of good ideas in my head though. The most important part is that I want to be smiling and happy. I have no thoughts on time at all. I have not done any math in my head on how long things may or may not take and that is how I want to keep it.
It is hard to believe that the race is so close. Next weekend! Thanks for all of your great comments along this crazy journey. It means a lot to me! I’ll be wearing number 2307 on race day. Sounds like a good number to me!
Wow, it’s here already?! I remember when you signed up… and here you are. Good luck this week. Hope you manage to wrap things up at work so you can enjoy some downtime (maybe?). Good luck. I am so proud of you already!!

Wow, that’s my favorite number, most people have small numbers but not me…… In my country that number means good luck.
“excited, nervous, ready to barf/cry at the drop of a hat”
Yeah, that about sums it up. People who ought to know have told me that means you’re ready.

Well if it is any consolation, when my friend was training for IMLP, she was exactly the same way before the event, really!!! So I sort of know how you’re feeling.
Leana, you will do just fine, don’t put any added pressure on yourself, just go out there and do what you’ve trained yourself to do…become Iron!!!
Just like Marlene said, I’m so proud of you too!!!
Next weekend, already?! Where did the time go?
You are going to do awesome! I just know it. Keep your chin up, smile and enjoy the ride!
I totally know how you feel about the barf/cry at the drop of a hat. Stay positive, you KNOW you’ve put in the work!
I never like to do time predictions or calculations in my head, I think it’s a waste of energy.
Definitely keep smiling…you deserve to have a happy smiling race!
PS I think that’s a great number, it’s my birthday backwards (kinda)…birthday is 07/23 =)
See you there, my friend! 🙂 🙂
You have put in a lot of preparation and you are ready for this. 🙂
Leana, you’ll be fine. You are more than fit for this race. Ironman is all about executing your day with what you have. Nothing is going to change that. I’m excited for you!! You’ve got this!
Seems like taper madness is in full bloom. You’ve done the work, now reap the rewards. You are ready
i’m with marlene – this has been a long journey! but a good one, of course. i can’t believe the day is almost here. you’ve worked your a$$ off! i soo can’t wait to track you, well i hope that’s an option anyway. i know how crazy emotions can get before a marathon – i only imagine it’s 10x crazier for an ironman.
You’re going to do awesome!!! Good luck!
As usual, I’m sure your race plan will rock. You have certainly done everything and then some to prepare for this race, so sit back and enjoy it. You’re going to do great! Are they going to be doing live updates online?
Leana you’ll do fabulously. You have put in ALL the hard work and every hard run / bike / swim shows that you have it in you to get past and over it. You will ROCK this.
hey girlie, good luck with your IM. you will be GREAT! your HEART is there, all you gotta do is trust yourself. you can do it!
Best of luck Leana! I will be following you on athlete tracker and cheering you on!
2307 is an AWESOME number!!! My birthday is july 23rd.. 0723… so i think 2307 will carry you through in a wonderful way to the finish!!! Wish you the best of everything! You can do it!!!!!!!
can’t wait to see your glorious smile as you go zooming past! go 2307 goooooo!!
oh, and the barf, cry, cruddy workouts are totally normal for this part of your training. 🙂
