Tricommitment Spin-a-thon

November 24, 2010 By: Runner Leana

If you live in Calgary and you aren’t busy on Saturday then how about partaking in the tricommitment spin-a-thon?  Spinning starts at 9 am, ends at 2 pm and takes place at the Eau Claire Market.

I could go on and on about how you’ll get to spin among friends and that there are some pretty stellar items up for auction.  Money raised from the spin-a-thon goes to support two of Calgary’s own triathletes – Jordan Bryden and Janelle Morrison.  But…

…on Sunday Janelle was driving from Penticton to Calgary to help organize the spin-a-thon and was involved in a very serious car accident.  She’s currently in intensive care in Kamloops.  Jordan is asking that the triathlon community come together come together to support Janelle at the spin-a-thon.  If you can’t make it (or don’t spin) there is an after party at Spur Gastropub in the evening, or else you can support Janelle directly here.

If you haven’t met Janelle, she is one of the sweetest most positive people ever.  I hope you will consider attending the spin-a-thon and thinking speedy healing thoughts for Janelle.IMGP2136

When I heard the news, it stunned me. I don’t know Janelle personally, but the triathlon community is so small, the connections are not so removed. I may not know her, but I do know people who do. It’s close enough to give me the chills and my heart goes out to her and her family.

    She is in my prayers!!!

That’s so much too sad about Janelle. But I have to say the way you’re picking up that foot makes it look like you think you’ve stepped in something icky.

I don’t know Janelle personally but it is obvious that she is loved. From working in a trauma ICU I know what lies ahead of her. See will need lots of support and I think the spin-a-thon is a great start. I just signed up!

You have to try the brand new application for the iPhone to keep track of your training and races. Definitely the best one I have seen.

    It’s called 220 TriLog.
