I’ve been thinking about moving my blog for some time. Back when I originally started my blog I had no clue what to use for a URL…hence cdnrunnergal. I felt like I outgrew that url and that it was time to bring the blog full circle with runnerleana…. I contemplated a switch to wordpress as well but ultimately I like the slick new blogger templates and interfaces.
With the new home I’ve made a few changes. I’ve added in some handy dandy buttons on the side of the blog. You can subscribe to my RSS feed or you can easily follow me on twitter. I’ve also added in a button so you can follow me on Pinterest which is where I store a bevy of fitness and recipe related inspiration. If you are interested in Pinterest but aren’t on it let me know and I’ll send you an invite to sign up. I’ve also got a few buttons underneath the header picture to link you to my race reports, product reviews and the wedding blog. I’ll be trying to update some of the info on those pages in the next little bit. Also, at the end of each post you have the option to share that post by mail, Facebook, G+ or twitter if you are at all inclined.
Finally the biggest change is that I’ve decided to try using Disqus for commenting. I really wanted a comment system that made it easy for me to reply to you. Often people will leave comments on really old posts. This way (particularly if you decide to subscribe to follow up comments or replies) I can easily respond to you and you get a notification that I responded to you. You can choose to comment as a guest, to sign up for a Disqus account or you can sign in with Facebook, twitter, or a google or yahoo id. I’m hoping it will make it a lot easier for everyone to comment. If you have any feedback on the new commenting system (good, bad or ugly) please don’t hesitate to shoot me an e-mail at runnerleana at gmail dot com.
A comment. I have commented. I will have to check this diaqus thing out.
Yay, thanks Keith!!
I have even updated my blogroll. I will be signing up for the disqus thing. Thanks for finding it!
i have made the switch in my reader 🙂
You’ll have to do a post in a few months on how well you like the switch. I’ve been considering as well but I’m unsure if I would like it enough to pay for it.
I like the look for sure!
Hi Alisa! There is no charge for Disqus…it’s free! 🙂
mmmmm… making me jealous! and hungry! love the new digs!
As someone that changed their blog name and url a while ago (I started as a weight loss blog, so used to be DebShrinks instead of DebTris), I totally get the need to change. One suggestion that I’d give is to post a couple reminders on your old blog. I changed it in my blogroll, but if somebody misses that post, it will keep falling down the list in the reader or on their roll.
At first, I didn’t like disqus, because with so many people posting as guests, you don’t get to click on their profile and see their blog. Having said that, I just took a couple minutes to create a disqus profile, and it was really easy. With more bloggers switching to it, it won’t take long for other people to create disqus profiles, and I do agree that in every other way it seems better. I think I’ll watch how it works for you, Keith, and whoever else has switched before I decide. I can be a follower. 🙂
Oh, that is true. I didn’t notice that if you don’t have an account you can’t see your blog address. Hopefully more and more folks will sign up for an account! So far I’m liking the switch but we’ll see how it goes.
Thanks for your tip about posting the reminders on the old blog.
Are you coming to cycling tonight? If so, Kelly, Tara and I are going to go for a bite to eat after class at Salt & Pepper. Would love to have you join us Deb! I think it is a bit of a “yay, Leana signed up for Ironman and it is all you can eat taco night” celebration.
Yep, I’m coming to cycling. I debated whether I wanted to or not, given that I am still kind of sore, but I’ve decided to come. I did a short run today and the muscles still work. I’d love to come out afterwards! See you at spin class!
I can see that the person I’m sending this back to is actually disqus, so I’m curious to see whether it posts as another comment on your blog or goes straight to you…
