Guess what I did yesterday?

April 10, 2012 By: Runner Leana

I ran!  I ran for the first time since Feburary 25th!!!  I’ve finally kicked this nasty flu and my knee is feeling better.  With that I’ve got the green light to start training again (which is good since Ironman Canada will be here before I know it).
I’ve got strict instructions to follow my run program and to not do any more than what my program says.  After all, we’ve got to make sure that I don’t hurt myself again.  Yesterday I did 5 x 2:00 run/3:00 walk.  Those 2:00 run intervals flew by.  It was nice to be out on the pathway with the sun shining down, my feet hitting the pavement and my new Garmin buzzing on my wrist.  My knee felt pretty happy the whole time too.
Yesterday was also my first double workout in awhile as well.  I did a 1900 m workout with some drills and some speedwork.  A couple of weeks ago Angie watched me swim and determined what I need to work on.  The good news is my form is looking good but now I need to activate some power!  Angie is tailoring my swim program to try and address the things I need to work on.  I’ve come a long way from despising the swim.  I actually enjoy time in the pool now!
For the next few weeks I slowly get back in to running, I swim three days a week and I spin three days a week.  There are definite signs of spring here in Calgary so hopefully some of those indoor spins will turn in to outdoor rides…
What about you?  Did you do anything exciting yesterday?

I’m doing physio at the moment and I’ve had to reduce the amount of running I’ve been doing, so I defiinitely understand how hard it is to not do more.

Sounds like you had a great run though!

I HURT my knee on a rest day! Don’t get greedy and listen to your body and coach!

Wow! A few signs of spring? Living in Florida for almost two years now I seem to take for granted that the whole world doesn’t have an eternal summer. It’s been 80+ just about every day since the beginning of March. Welcome to spring!

So glad you’re able to run again!  I skipped bike class in favour of an outdoor ride today.  Hope you had fun!  It was lovely riding outside, but I’ll try to get to a few more of the classes before they end.

YAY! That is great you are back to feeling good and running!  Yesterday I ran too, but it was kind of cold out.  I am ready for warmer temps!
