I blame the iPad

May 18, 2012 By: Runner Leana

Wow, has it really been more than a month since I blogged?  Yikes!  Personally I blame my iPad.  Having an iPad means that my laptop barely gets turned on these days.  I’ve also been keeping pretty busy with things that have kept me away from writing.
Our home has been undergoing a lot of changes recently!  We changed up our yucky builder’s standard carpet for something a little nicer.  Behold, the before and in progress shot:DSCN7064

I also dusted off my sewing machine to complete my second sewing project ever.  I made a dog bed for Peat!  It has been a huge hit.DSCN7101
I also wanted to address some of the builder standard details in our ensuite bathroom.  I decided to paint the birch vanity a soft white and change out the paper holder and faucet.  I have some more plans for this room, but here are the before and in progress shots:DSCN7107DSCN7117
My folks were in town last weekend.  To celebrate my upcoming birthday I decided to crack a bottle of something I’ve been holding on to for a long time – a bottle of 1978 Fonseca port (I was born in 1978).  It was delicious and well worth sharing with some of my favourite people!DSCN7120
My parents also had a chance to meet Peat and for Peat to meet Maggie and Finlay.DSCN7150DSCN7152
It was really nice being able to spend Mother’s Day with my mom!DSCN7145-crop
Training is coming along!  The weather in Calgary manages to cooperate every once in awhile and I’ve had some really great rides outside.  I decided to get my bike fit again recently which has made a huge difference.  That experience is definitely worth its own blog post!  My knee seems to be back to normal.  I haven’t had any issues with pain or swelling in quite some time.  I’m still taking it easy on building up my running.  Being perfectly honest, running plain sucks right now.  I feel great on the bike but completely out of shape on the run.  35 minutes of running feels like a marathon.  Not helping things is a bit of an achy/tight left hip.  I had issues with my left hip way back in July 2010.  It hasn’t been an issue again until now.  I’m not sure if I’m compensating on my stride due to concern over my knee or if I’m just really tight.  I’m hoping my massage therapist can work it out this weekend and if that doesn’t work it is off to ART for me!
There we go, that’s my update!  What have you been up to?

If you’re careful you can blog from the iPad using BlogPress. Never tried photos though. Glad to hear knees are back to normal, but taking it easy is probably a really good idea. Even if you hear the clock ticking. The IMC clock!

Dawwwww those little faces get me every time!
I went for a bike ride yesterday! I went from downtown to Heritage park all along the pathway system, and it was a great (but tiring) ride. Cruisers are awesome, but trying to pedal a 20kg bike up some of those hills was not so awesome. I’ll admit it, I walked up some of the hills. But I enjoyed myself so much I didn’t even notice my skin was toasted to a nice lobster-red until I got home!

The puppies are so cute.  🙂 🙂  YAY for being able to bike outside!  Fingers crossed for your hip issues to get resolved. 🙂

What a difference just that white paint makes!

Just spent 2 weeks in Toronto for school – it was all consuming. So I feel like that’s the only update I can muster 🙂
