It is Saturday afternoon. I’ve got my feet up and I’m hydrating while watching the Hunger Games. It is hard to believe that Ironman Canada is tomorrow!
We drove from Calgary on Wednesday to give plenty of time to settle in before the race. Hubby and I are staying with my folks about 40 minutes away from Penticton. It is quiet and comfortable here. I like being away from the nervous buzz before the race!
On Thursday I met up with my team for a short swim in the lake. The water felt wonderful and it was the best I’ve felt in open water so far this year.
After the swim we popped by Smith & Co for some caffeine and breakfast before registration opened up.
I signed this year’s poster!
Time to line up and register.
Getting my waiver.
Quick, smile for the camera before signing the waiver!
Shirley, the awesome volunteer putting my wrist band on.
Woo hoo, I’ve got my wrist band on!
Wrist band, swim cap, I am ready to go!
Our team got to the banquet nice and early to ensure a prime spot for us to sit.
Nervously exchanging thoughts on what we are putting in our bags.
Shannon and I look like we are up to something!
Dinner was pretty good – Caesar salad, garlic bread, a choice of whole wheat spaghetti or whole wheat penne, Marinara sauce and grilled chicken.
Bagpipes to kick of the banquet!
My swim to bike bag, all ready to go.
And my bike to run bag.
Pumping the tires up before dropping my bike off in transition on Saturday.
All ready to head on in to transition.
I had an awesome volunteer (Chris) who showed me where to rack my bike (even suggested a better way to rack it to make it easier to get off), then walked me through all the entrances and exits to transition. I have a great bike rack that the change tent, right by a huge tree.
The finish line getting set up.
The swim start being set up.
Bottles of nutrition for the bike, ready to go.
You can track me tomorrow on ironman.com. I’ll be bib number 2157.
Less than 7 hours left to go. Good luck to everyone racing!!!
Good luck Leana!! I am so excited to follow your Ironman Canada Adventure, Take 2! 🙂
I like the idea of staying a little ways out from all the excitement. That makes me feel better about where we’re booked for Placid.
Hope you have an amazing day tomorrow! I’ll be tracking!
Hope it went well!! Was that nail polish? If so what was it for? That is awesome of the volunteer to show you entrances and exits.
