Monday was a day off for me in lieu of Remembrance Day, however my husband had to work that day. I had plenty of things I wanted to accomplish around the house – like copious amounts of laundry and catching up on blogs – so I let my husband take the car. The only place that I really wanted to go was to Home Depot so I could pick up a couple of things to put up our Christmas lights. Luckily we have a Home Depot nearby so I figured I could combine my workout for the day, an easy 30 min run, with a trip to the store.
I have a brand new pair of Asics Kayanos that I decided to try out for the first time.
Peat takes his role as shoe inspector very seriously!
It was a nice run to the Home Depot. The sign was shining and it was a little warmer out than it had been in Calgary the past few days. My run to Home Depot is also all downhill so it felt nice and easy to get there (as per my instructions for today’s run).
As an aside, I was totally impressed with the number of bathrooms in the store!
I found what I was looking for, a timer and an extension cord for our Christmas lights!
We haven’t put up outdoor lights at our place before. The LED lights at Costco are so inexpensive and I’d really love to make our place look more festive. While we don’t get a lot of traffic who might see our lights we’ll get to enjoy them.

The run home was slightly less easy since it was uphill the entire way. I just took it nice and steady and my legs felt okay despite the full weekend of running in them. As soon as I was home I had to set the lights up. I’d still like to get some more lights to put up, but we are on our way!
YES! Love to run errands as often as possible. It feels so satisfying!
The lights look great. I’m kind of sad that we can’t put any up right now since we’re moving mid-December. I wonder if we’ll bother at the new place since it will only be a couple of weeks til Christmas..
I have done that before to pick up a race package either from Eau Claire or MEC. I know exactly what hill you ran up and that hill sucks!
I am impressed with your errand. Did you carry a backpack? When I do (rarely – I live in the country) combine errands with exercise I feel very virtuous.
You know, I didn’t carry a backpack, I just ran with my two items home in my hands. A little akward but I didn’t have far to go. I was thinking on my way there though that maybe I should have brought a bag?
