Besides running Winterstart I had a lot more running in my schedule for the weekend. Lucky for me I’d be in one of my favourite places to make it happen! Saturday morning I had a long run to tackle – 1:15. I planned to run the Legacy Pathway towards Canmore since I figured it would be good for a long run. Unfortunately I only made it a few minutes down the pathway before I spied some deer or elk around the path having a snack. I decided to turn around and run through town and along the river instead. It was a beautiful morning and the run flew by! It was also a nice way to wake up my legs in preparation for the race that evening.
On Sunday morning I had another 45 minutes to run. With the time change I was able to sleep in a bit, then head out once the sun came up.My legs were definitely feeling my two runs from Saturday so it was slow going. Even though I was slow I tried to keep my form in shape.
The scenery made for an amazing run! I felt so lucky to be out for a run in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I sure do love spending time in Banff. It was nice to just run for fun and to enjoy the scenery. Sunday was also the first time in awhile that we’ve seen the sun here – another bonus on my run! All in all I got in three runs in almost three hours over the weekend. Not too shabby.
Do you have a favourite place to run?
Gorgeous! I love snow covered mountains.
I love Banff. Can I copy you for the favourite place?
Having said that, I have a regular run that is my absolute comfort run. Just along the river by my place, on clear days I get a mountain view at the end of the pathway.
