This week has been such a busy one!
On Wednesday night the Tech Shop was holding a friends and family night, complete with a fun run beforehand and a chili cook off right afterwards. As soon as I heard about it I e-mailed best run buddy Kelly to see if she wanted to go. I figured we had to run anyway, so why not make it a more social run?
I also whipped up a pot of chili to enter the contest with. The winner would get a free pair of shoes! Since Kelly is allergic to gluten I wanted to make sure there would be a chili there that she could eat. I whipped up a pot of pork and black eyed pea chili, one of the yummiest chili recipes I know. I subbed the beer out for wine and made sure the chicken broth I used was gluten free. After everyone had arrived and all the chilis were bubbling away in crock pots we headed out for our run! We ran down along the Elbow River. There were some really pretty houses all lit up for Christmas. The run was a lot of fun and it was nice to catch up with Heather who just happened to be out there too. I tried to get a shot of Kelly and I with some of the Christmas lights in the background.
After the run I browsed the store and chowed down on some chili. Sadly I didn’t win free shoes but I did buy some acupressure balls from Travel Roller to help deal with some niggles in my piriformis.
On Thursday it was time to hit up the treadmill again for an interval workout. I have a bit of a confession, I’m actually starting to enjoy these treadmill runs!Unfortunately my workout didn’t save to my Garmin properly so I was going to have to watch the clock to hit my intervals. Luckily it didn’t impact the quality of my workout and it went really well. I had to run three sets of 4:00 hard/0:30 each, 3:00 hard/0:30 easy, 2:00 hard/0:30 easy, 1:00 hard/5:00 recovery.
All done!
Friday was my Christmas party! It was a fun excuse to get dressed up. I think the Husband and I clean up alright?
