Disney, Goofy, vacation. These are about the only things I can think of right now. Is it time to go to Disney World yet?? I suppose the only other thought I have right now is that I need to do everything possible to avoid getting sick since there seems to be a lot of that going around right now! The other day I was chatting with a lady at the gym who told me she felt a bit better today since she could actually stand up. Needless to say I high tailed it away from there as quickly as possible!
Anyhow, on January 1st my coach gave me a 90 minute run to do. My mission for the run was to spend time visualizing the Disney marathon. I had a 20 minute warm up, 20 min focus, 5 min easy carefree running, 15 min focus, 5 min of carefree, 10 min focus, 5 min of carefree, 5 min focus…you get the idea. It was a beautiful and sunny day out, and a lot warmer than it has been around here lately. I also was trying out some new gear, the lululemon Bold in the Cold LS I picked up after the holidays on sale. I wasn’t so sure about the top on the hanger, but it was cute and comfy on. Plus it has some pretty reflective detailing on the back hem.

I ran out along the river towards downtown. It was so warm I was able to take my gloves off. I spent a lot of time thinking about the race course and the emotions I expected to feel along the way. I thought about where I expected the lows to come on race day and the fatigue I expected to feel. I thought about what I’d need to say to myself and what to focus on to push past that fatigue. Almost at the turn around!
The thing about the visualization was that I wasn’t paying attention to my pace. I was so focused on my thoughts I didn’t realize that I was running speedier than I have in awhile! I wound up running a really nice negative split and finished up with 8 miles in 1:31. And my last mile was my fastest mile!
I think I did a lot of good mental training out there. It is unbelievable to think that at this time next week I’ll have competed my first two races and will be resting up for the big day on Sunday!!

My fellow Goofy Challengers, how are you feeling?
Nice job on the run! I can’t wait to hear how it goes. I have to say, you always look so good in your running gear!
Your training has been amazing this last little while! I’ve been envying you getting out for the runs. Hope you have a great race day!
You don’t want to know how I’m feeling. You don’t want to get any closer to me than our offices are, at least for a few days more. I hope its only that.
Awesome job!! As a fellow Goofy runner, feeling pretty glum. My right leg is having all sorts of issues and I am debating not doing the half and just doing the full. We’ll see how things pan out and how dumb I’m feeling that day. I am getting super excited about the trip in general, though!!
I’m sick but I’m ready! Let’s do this Goofy thing!
Nice shirt!
Sounds like a great run and you are ready for Goofy! Hopefully one if these years I’ll be crazy enough to join the club.
You read my post, so you know I am antsy! I am really really excited! Can’t wait. This week is all about resting, relaxing and getting to Disney! It’ll be fun. If you see me go by, say hi! I am wearing a Minnie Sparkle Skirt on Saturday and Sunday I’ll be wearing a shirt from my local running/walking club. Not that helps! Good luck to you! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.
What a great run this close to Goofy!!! Maybe we’ll see each other out there!
