How’s the knee?
Thankfully ever since my knee tweak on Monday it has been improving every day. At spin class on Tuesday there was no discomfort of all and I busted my behind for an awesome workout. I took Wednesday as a rest day since I had to travel to cold, snowy Lloydminster for work.
I left Calgary at 6:30 am and got back at 7:30 pm so it was one long and exhausting day!

Finally on Friday I decided it was time to head back out for a run. It was sunny and felt pretty warm at 2C. I ran with Kelly for 5 minutes as a warm up, then separated off to run at my own pace. I ran for 30 minutes continuously (no walk breaks!) at a pace that felt comfortable. It was awesome! My knee felt great the entire time I was running and there were no issues either after I was done. Yay!!

I’m trying to incorporate some more strength training into my routine right now while I have the chance! In the past I’ve joined a boot camp class, gone to a weight lifting class at the gym, or just used the weight machines. Ages ago someone had recommended the Nike Training Club app to me when I was looking for core work ideas but I never used it. On Thursday I opened it up on a whim and started taking a look at what was inside. I went straight to the 15 minute focused workouts where there are several choices depending on what you want to work out. Core, arms, back, butt, legs, you name it. I tried the 15 minute ab burner to start off with. The moves were all easy to follow with instructional videos if you needed them. A lot of the moves remind me of what I used to do in boot camp before. The app did all the timing for you and gave tips on what to think about to keep your form for some of the moves. You can also play music from your library during your workout. Yesterday I tried the arm definer and the butt buster. I can really feel those moves today and it was a really good workout! Some of the moves require equipment, but just a medicine ball or a set of 10 or 12 lb dumbbells.
The app is free on iTunes and is also available for android too. Because of the size of the app you have to download it over wi-fi though.
Do you have a favourite strength training or core work app?
I’ve never heard of that app, I’m going to download it today!!!
Oh, that app looks good. Thanks for the suggestion. Glad that the knee is feeling better.
Yeah that looks pretty cool – unfortunately I just don’t have the availability these days to commit to classes so something like that would be great!
