This past week I got back to some familiar activities. First up, after a few months off I finally found my way back to the pool!
Ah yes, how about an unflattering picture of me in a swim cap to prove it? I think I’ve been to the pool twice since Ironman Canada? About 200 meters in I felt like my arms were going to fall off! Thankfully they came around and my swim actually felt pretty good. I’ve promised my coach that I would make it to the pool one time per week and I intend to keep my promise! I don’t have structured swim workouts right now so I’m just enjoying a little front crawl, a little pull and a little bit of paddle work while I listen to some tunes with my H2O Audio/X-1 waterproof iPod case.

I also set my bike up in the garage for my first solo indoor spin in ages today!
Technically the spin was not on my schedule. Husband and I were going to go for an urban hike at Nose Hill Park but he woke up with the beginning of that nasty cold that seems to be making its way around town. I’m trying to not succumb to it too, but with Neil being sick and numerous people in my office proclaiming that they feel like crap but they just have so much work to do so there is no way they can stay home my days may be numbered.
I only sat on my bike for 40 minutes and I worked on keeping my cadence up the whole time. After my spin I did another round the 300 ab challenge followed with a one minute plank. I’m not a great planker so maybe I should think about giving the plank a day challenge a try sometime?

Have you gotten back to any long lost activities recently? What tips do you have to avoid getting sick?
ugh, the “plague” is going around down south here too. I am a little bit of a germaphobe so I really really really realllllllly hate it when people come to the office sick. People, this is why there are conference lines and remote email.
This is my super busy season at work but honestly, I could do all of it (well, 99.9% of it) from home if I needed to.
Tips…I wash my hands like crazy and try to get as much sleep as possible. I find when I’m overly tired my immune system goes to hell in a handbasket FAST.
