He wanted to check my flexibility, then he went back to look at my ankles. With my legs relaxed, this is how they point if my feet are just hanging off a bench.
Notice anything strange?
My left foot is looking like it is at a strange alignment! Things are so tight on my left side that it is being pulled out of its usual direction. He did some ART throughout my arch, ankle, shin and calf. Holy smokes things were tight! I am also crazy After that I was given some exercises to do on my own time to help improve flexibility throughout my ankle. He figured things had improved about 30% after treatment so he advised I do some alternate activities besides running this weekend until I get some more improvement. Initially after treatment things were still really sore, but the pain started to subside over the course of the day. At least pain has improved for the moment!
This all goes back to taking proper care of ourselves during training for endurance sports. While I tried to be good about foam rolling while I was training for Goofy I made a bit of a mistake. Whenever I’ve had an issue with tightness it has always been on the right hand side of my body. When I foam rolled I really focused on my right hand side and probably didn’t give enough attention to my left hand side. The good news is this is fixable, it is just going to take some work!
