On Monday I went back to my chiro for some more ART on my lower left leg. Wow, he found some seriously tight spots! I asked him if I could try running again and he said sure, so long as everything stays in alignment.
So on Wednesday I decided to lace up the ol’ sneakers and hit the pathways of downtown Calgary for a run.
Please, oh please ankle, be okay with what we are about to do! I was a little nervous!
So how did it go? Well, it wasn’t awesome but it wasn’t completely terrible either. I was hyper tuned to how my ankle felt which I think tends to mess with your brain. Does it really hurt or are you so worried about it hurting that hurting is all you can think about? I did feel some achiness at times, but there were also times when my ankle felt just fine. All in all I still have some work to do with ART, the exercises my chiro has given me and doing what I can to balance my body out.
I guess this is just a reminder of how important it is to keep taking care of your body…both sides of it…when you are training for endurance races!
So true. Even know, several weeks after my return to running, I am hyper sensitive to my right tendons, foot (this is also where I had morton’s neuroma) and butt (haha, piriformis has struck this side in the past too).
So true! I am glad it wasn’t terrible but I hope it gets back to awesome soon!
I can’t wait to run on my ankle. Glad it went fairly well.
