This week has been an absolute gong show!
Why yes, I really do own a gong!
Race number five of my 13 in 2013 is happening tomorrow, the Calgary Road Runner’s St. Patrick’s Day race. My initial plan was to run the 10K but the issues with my left ankle have put a chink in those plans. I’ve been going for ART consistently. I’ve been running too, but some runs have been better than others, and everything has been in the 30 – 40 minute range. Even the “good” runs haven’t been anywhere near how I felt before the issue first cropped up. It has been pretty frustrating.
On Monday I got on the treadmill for a run. I had to pull the pin eight minutes in as my ankle was way too uncomfortable. That night I e-mailed the race organizers and dropped down to the 5K.
Besides my ankle drama, what else has contributed to the gong show this week?
- Multiple meetings starting at 6:30 am, all the way through to late evenings at work. Getting in my workouts this week has been a challenge!
- The forecasted temperature for tomorrow’s race is -13 dec C!!
That being said, there have been a bright spots too:
- I unlocked a phenomenally hard but fun ab workout on the Nike Training Club app when I hit 245 minutes of workouts through the app.
- I had a really amazing practice at hot yoga this morning where I really felt some really great progress in some of my poses. Camel pose still makes me want to pass out though!
- If it is going to be that cold tomorrow I’m really glad I’m only running the 5K!
So there we go. No plans for tomorrow other than to hopefully have a fun run (and fingers crossed my ankle feels good for it)!
Doesn’t it feel good when you have an unexpected awesome workout?
Good luck with the race tomorrow!
Aww – I hope your ankle holds in there today. With the current state of weather, I’m glad to only be out there for the 5k so maybe it’s a good thing you had to drop down. Hope I see you there!
Why am I not surprised you own a gong? Parties at your place must be interesting. Hope today went well for you.
