Clif Bar Review and Giveaway

April 14, 2013 By: Runner Leana

DSCN8683 edit

The good folks at Clif Bar recently got in touch with me to find out if I would be interested in trying to flavours that are new to Canada.  It is like they knew that I’ve been looking for healthy snack options!  The two new flavours to Canada are the white chocolate macadamia and coconut chocolate chip energy bars.  Yum!!

They also threw in a Clif Bar Crunch in white chocolate macadamia nut too.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Crunch Granola Bar:

This bar was delicious!  It was crisp and crunchy.  I didn’t taste a lot of white chocolate, but the macadamia flavour was really nice.  This is the kind of bar I’d buy to have as a snack on the go or at work.  One serving size is 2 bars and comes in at 190 calories, 27 grams of carbs and 3 grams of protein.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Energy Bar:

This bar was soft and chewy with pieces of macadamia and white chocolate in it with with white chocolate drizzle on top.  On Saturday I had to hurry to take Peat to the vet for his annual check up right after my long run was done.  I needed to refuel quickly so I grabbed one of these bars and ate it in the car.  It was easy to eat on the go with no crumbling.  It also kept me full with no risk of a rumbling tummy while Peat and I hung out at the vet.  This bar comes in at 250 calories, 41 grams of carbohydrates, 9 grams of protein and 4 grams of fibre.

Coconut Chocolate Chip Energy Bar:

Just like the white chocolate macadamia bar, this bar was soft, chewy and easy to eat.  I didn’t see coconut in the bar, but there were pieces of chocolate with a chocolate drizzle on top.  Of the two energy bar flavours I think this one was my favourite (although really, I liked them both).  These bars come in at 240 calories, 42 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of fibre.

I think the energy bars are a great option if you want a portable snack so you can refuel quickly after a long run or a long bike ride, or even on the hiking trail.  I really enjoyed trying these new flavours out!  Thanks so much Clif Bar!

And for my Canadian readers, would you like to give these two energy bar flavours a try?  Then go ahead an enter my giveaway?  The contest is open until the end of the day on Sunday, April 21st.

I’ve eaten a lot of Clif bars in my day and I’ve always bought the white chocolate macadamia nut from down in the states. Yum! That and the coconut are definitely my favourite!

I’m not sure I could be totally responsible with them, but I’d still like to try those flavours. 🙂 Mmmm, especially the white chocolate macadamia.

I LOVE the coconut chocolate chip! got a case of them in the States last year and then spotted them with great excitement in Peterborough last weekend. A tasty tasty macaroon. So grateful for new flavours.

I don’t usually like eating prepackaged things on my run. I did try one of these during the BMO Vancouver Marathon last year and they do taste yummy. I make my own fuel now so I know what is in it.

I tried them quite a few years ago. I can’t remember which flavour – I think there were raisins in it.
