Between the 7:30 am 5K race and the 10:00 pm 10 Mile race I really wanted to focus on recovery and making sure I’d be ready for that late long run.
After Neil and I crossed the finish line of the 5K we drank some Powerade, got our photo taken with Mickey Mouse, then headed out of Wide World of Sports right away. We made our way to Downtown Disney for a breakfast sandwich from Earl of Sandwich.
The egg and ham breakfast sandwich was delicious, plus with a banana it felt like a good recovery meal. We then made our way back to our hotel to start relaxing and so I could put Operation Hydration into action!
I had picked up a Zico chocolate coconut water to try for the first time and it was really good! Plus bring on the water and the nuun!
We headed out to Hollywood Studios for lunch at Brown Derby. We ate their last year and the Cobb Salad sat well in my stomach and kept me full all day. I had then tested the Cobb Salad plan on my double run training day as well.
The Cobb Salad was delicious and we made sure to keep hydrating well throughout lunch. Celebratory beverages could come later!
We stopped for a few photos on our way out, but otherwise our time in the part was kept to a minimum. Luckily we have annual passes so it doesn’t feel like you waste a day of your park ticket to just pop into the park for a bite to eat.
We were parked across the way where the staging area was being set up for the race so of course we stopped for a couple of photos!
We then headed back to the hotel where Neil promptly conked out for a three hour nap. I relaxed and took it easy (and wrote my 5K race report) before heading off to the Boardwalk to meet up with my fellow Oiselle teammate Victoria. Victoria is so sweet and bubbly. It was so easy to chat with her and our time together flew by as we sat in the shade, hydrating and talking. I’m so glad we had the opportunity to meet up!
And with that it was time to head back to the hotel, wake up Neil and start prepping for our nighttime race. Even though the race wouldn’t start until 10 pm we had to board a bus from WWOS to Hollywood Studios from 7 – 8 pm and it felt like there was a bunch to do!
Up next, my race report.
So jealous of your fun vacation. Glad that you had so much fun!
