These are a few of my favourite things

2013 Gift Guide

With the holiday season here I thought I would share a few of my favourite things in case you are looking for a present for your favourite runner or triathlete!

Candy Cane Chapstick

Candy cane 1

Lora, the Crazy Running Girl, included a tube of Candy Cane Chapstick in a Secret Santa exchange for me last year.  I love the peppermint flavour, it slicks on easily and is a must for chapped lips here in cold, wintery Calgary.

Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars (check the store locator to find a place near you to purchase, including here in Calgary!)

I’ve gotten a couple of these delicious fig bars in my Stride Box and Kona Kase subscriptions.  They are so tasty and a perfect snack on the train home after a post-work swim.

PS – a subscription to Stride Box or Kona Kase would also make a great gift idea!

Foot Butter from Rocky Mountain Soap Company ($7.50/$15 Cdn)

Foot Butter

Rocky Mountain Soap Company is a local company and everything they make smells absolutely delicious.  I got a small stick of this Foot Butter in my swag bag at the Rocky Mountain Soap Run in May and I can’t get enough of it.  It smells terrific and it will make your tired, dry and rough runner’s feet feel amazing.

Runner’s World Cookbook ($9.99 Cdn on your Kindle app or $19.44 for the hardback)

Runners World Cookbook

I’ve been doing a lot more meal planning lately and have been trying to find healthy yummy recipes.  I picked up the Runner’s World Cookbook via Amazon and downloaded it right away to the Kindle app on my iPad.  So far everything we’ve made has been delicious including Red Beans and Rice with Turkey Sausage, Chicken Stir Fry with Green Beans and Broccoli and Thai Beef Salad with Mint.

Naawk Sunscreen ($10.99 US – ships to Canada)

I spend a lot of time out in the sun training so sunscreen is key!  I love Naawk’s continuous spray sunscreen because it sprays on, rubs in quickly and doesn’t feel greasy on your skin yet it really protects.

Oiselle Runfinity Scarf in Feather French Fleece ($36 US – ships to Canada)

The French Fleece Runfinity Scarf is so warm and cozy…an absolute must here in Canada!  Perfect for wearing at home on a chilly morning or for when you need to brave the elements outdoors!

Amphipod Xinglet Reflective Wear ($24.95 US) and Amphipod Vizlet LED Reflectors ($19.95 US for two) – both shipping to Canada via Running Warehouse

Amphipod

Keep your favourite runner safe on those early morning or evening runs with the Amphipod Xinglet Vest!  It is lightweight, comfortable to wear and provides 360 degree reflectivity.  I got to try out the LED reflectors at Ragnar NWP and they were great!  Snap one on the back your vest and you won’t realize it is there, but that blinking red light will help to improve your visibility.  Pathways, sidewalks, intersections…no matter where you are they will see you coming!

As for me, what is on my wish list this year?

Last year a very old fleece scarf was one of my key pieces of gear on my winter runs.  I’d love to try one of the Turtle Fur neck warmers though!  I hear Lauren Fleshman thinks they are awesome.

And the number one piece of gear I am lusting after right now is the XLAB Torpedo 100 ($84.95 Cdn via TriBoutique.ca).  I think it is time for a new aero bottle and this one looks super comfortable to drink from!  It also has a a great set up for a spot to put your Garmin.

I’m going to link to the sunscreen. That aero bottle looks scary to me. I can’t live without my turtle furs around my neck in the winter. I bought two new ones recently.
