Scenes from a weekend of training

March 27, 2014 By: Runner Leana

Training volume is ramping up!  I had a lot of big workouts to do this past weekend and that helped to keep me busy.
First up on Friday I had a 2 hour ride on the trainer to do.  I’m all smiles…let’s do this!

Please pardon our messy garage…  The workout was a pretty simple one.  2 hours alternating 30 minutes of easy, 30 minutes of getting faster every 10 minutes.  During the easy portion I listened to the new Fitz and the Tantrums album.  There are some good tunes on there!

I’ve been having issues with my saddle or my bike shorts bugging me lately.  The edge of the thicker chamois on my bike shorts is causing an unfortunate hot spot.  I’m going to have to ditch all my old bike shorts as tri shorts are feeling more comfortable these days.  That being said, the hot spot reared its ugly head an hour into the ride so some Hoo Ha Ride Glide was in order.

That 30 min build was fun!

2 hours on the trainer was a long time, but I did it!  I even added in an extra 10 minutes for cool down.

Good times on a Friday night!
I had a long run of 11 miles to do on Sunday.  The weather was decidedly un-spring-like.  Snow on the pathways and my car thermometer read -8C at the start.

I really wasn’t excited about the run to start with but my legs were feeling good out there.  There was a detour on the pathway thanks to some river bank reconstruction from last year’s flood.

Almost at the half way point of the run!

On the way back I was able to check out the river bank reconstruction from the other side of the river.

My legs were feeling great on the way back despite running into a chilly headwind.  Even though the weather was not so nice I had a really great run.

What did you get up to this past weekend?  Any big workouts?

I love that bridge and the name of that anti-chafing gel cracks me up! Good job Leana!

Teeheehee! Your facial expression with the ahem ride glide is classic. Love it! Nice photos all of them.
