I’ve mentioned that I am working hard on my swim these days. I’ve really turned my negative attitude to the swim around! A month ago I had my first swim test to see where I was at pacing wise. I had to swim 6 x 300 m and try to maintain my pace over each interval. I thought I did a pretty good job and I felt really positive about my test. Since then I’ve gotten some great feedback on my stroke from both Coach Angie and from my teammate Sarah. They’ve given me tips to improve my catch and increase the power in my stroke.
On Friday it was time to redo the test. Time to see if that stroke feedback has paid off! Let’s compare my results from February to March…
Holy cow, I was blown away by the improvement in pace, and that my stroke count is coming down a little bit too! I was floored to see my pace drop below 2:00/100 m on my final set!!
It is really nice to see a solid improvement in my swim test. Huge thanks to Sarah and Angie for all of their help lately!
Have you had a big breakthrough in your training lately?
It’s amazing what a tiny difference in swim stroke will do. For me it was being told to push my head and chest deeper into the water. I try to visualize myself as one of those big submarines with a big bow wave well back from the actual nose of the boat. Feeling the water with your hands is all. Congrats on the big improvement! Have you ever had anyone video your stroke? That’s an amazing tool to see what needs to improve.
Been meaning to reply but on my ipad for some reason it wont let me submit comments. strange. Very exciting stuff on the swim. The swim is really so very boring, that its nice to see improvements! I got the garmin 910 for xmas and have not yet used it while swimming so Iam looking forward to using it at the pool to see what happens. hey did you find suitable accommodations for Boulder? How close to the race are you going to be?
