Well my friends, Ironman #3 is officially in the books.  It was a tough day out there with heat and elevation playing a factor in my day.  I felt lucky to finish the bike and the run got tough for me pretty early on.  They say that Ironman is a day of problem solving and luckily I managed to sort my problems out…going from thinking I may have to pull out of the race, to running a negative split on the marathon.
I finally broke the 16 hour mark and finished in 15:42:23…a nice 25 minute or so PR over 140.6 miles.
I have the best husband and parents who cheered me on and supported me through this whole crazy Ironman journey.
I also have the best friends and training partners a girl could ask for!
Congratulations to all Ironman Boulder racers!
Want to catch up on my race report? Â Head this way for the swim, the bike and the run.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! So proud of you! It’s been awesome to follow your training journey and now see that you totally rocked it (like I knew you would!!!)
Can’t wait to read the full recap 🙂
Congrats! You are a beast!
Congrats on breaking the 16h barrier, finishing in the heat, and especially finishing after you thought you might have to throw in the towel. I thought you would find this easy because you had done it before and trained really hard but every race is different. You’re amazing and inspiring Leana! 🙂 Well done.
Congratulations on finishing, the PR and all the time you put into training. LOVE the finisher’s jacket.
I am so happy to hear you PR’d. You look like you were keeping it together. I saw you on the run. I had to walk because I got blisters on the bike and my walk was much faster then my attempt at running. I hope you enjoyed the race as much as I did. This was my first Ironman and I had a huge advantage over most- we live about 45 minutes from the course. Most of my solid rides were on the first half of our bike course. I can’t wait to see your perspective on the race. Way to go! I finished my race in 16:35 and a bit of change. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
can not wait for the full story!!! hope you are recovering well!
Congrats! I can’t wait to read the race report.
Congrats on a strong finish – and a PR! I actually signed up for Boulder for next year, so I’m anxious to hear how people’s experiences were this year (seems like the heat was a factor for most people!). Hope that you are enjoying some well-deserved recovery!
