On Monday afternoon we pulled in to Helena, Montana. I was originally going to do a short bike ride but my bike and chain were in dire need of a clean after we had travelled down some gravel roads. Instead we decided to relax, grab dinner, and watch a couple of movies. I was up early on Tuesday morning and decided to do a short run around historic Helena instead of that bike ride.
It was great to see some of the old history from the gold rush days in Helena.
I kept the run pretty short…just something to get my legs moving after all that sitting in the car. After a quick breakfast we hit the road, taking the scenic route towards Yellowstone. Just outside of Three Forks, MT we spotted this really neat art installation on the side of the highway…Bleu Horses by Jim Dolan.
We pulled over to the side of the highway for a better look and it turns out the artist was there to meet a client. It was really neat to chat with him briefly.
We then hit the road and took a little side tour off the highway down a gravel road to Madison Buffalo Jump.
After that it was time to make our way to Yellowstone!
Time to enter a new state…Wyoming!
Yellowstone completely blew me away. It was so pretty! The highlight was spotting the first geothermal features as we drove along.
We stopped and took a short walk around the Fountain Paint Pots.
Geology is awesome!
To be continued with more of our time in Yellowstone!
There’s nothing like Old Faithful. That art installation is very cool.
