On to the next (Goofy) challenge!

September 12, 2014 By: Runner Leana

Since #birdcamp I’ve started on a run only program with Coach Angie.  My goals for the next few months are most definitely running related so this made the most sense.  What are my big plans?

It is time to take on the Goofy Challenge in Walt Disney World in January 2015!  This will be my third time taking on the challenge.  How could I forget sweating with Winnie the Pooh in 2008??

I’m pretty excited to tackle Goofy again, especially since it is the 10th anniversary of the race.  I’ve had some fairly good runs lately as I begin tackling the back to back runs.  I’ve enjoyed some new scenery…

I’ve run into friends…  Hi Michelle, Jen, Tina and Sophia!

I even found my reflective vest and headlamp for some early morning runs.

And I’ve run in snow…in September…really!

So great 🙂 I ran Goofy in 2009 – so much fun. Enjoy those back to back runs! All that effort is worth the “party” as you well know!

Good for you for tackling the Goofy yet again…I’m all signed up for Goofy 2015 as well. It’s my first one so if you have any training tips I’m all ears 🙂

It feels weird to be training just for a marathon after you complete an Ironman. Seems kinda boring and repetitive but I need to get back to my roots. I haven’t done a stand alone marathon in two years and I want to focus on getting my marathon time down. I used to do one marathon a year but I got a little slack and switched things up- last year was trail races and this year I finally did an Ironman. Now I was mourning the fact I had nothing to train for. Go have fun with the Goofy. If we ever move back to the East coast I will do it…

Training for my second Goofy (first was in 2012). I’ve had a little trouble with my training plan. I use the Galloway plan as a guideline, because I don’t go all the way to 26 like he recommends. But we are going to be at WDW for Thanksgiving, and going on a cruise the week after, and I don’t want to do an 18-miler while on vacation!! (First world problems, I know!) 🙂
