Celery Root and Stolen Parcels

December 11, 2014 By: Runner Leana

Today is Thursday, so that means I’m linking up with Running With Spoons for another Thinking Out Loud!
Thinking-Out-LoudFood
There is very little I won’t eat, or at least won’t try once.  When it comes to vegetables I am not fond of parsnips (yet I continuously add them to stews because it seems like stews should have parsnips), turnips and celery root.  A few weeks ago I decided that I should give celery root another try because who knows?  Repeated testing of Brussels sprouts turned them from meh to one of my favourite vegetables.
I was a little intimidated by my peeled celery root and wasn’t too sure what to do with it.  It seems like my best options were to dice it up and roast it, or steam and then mash.  I opted for the roasting option.
First served up with roasted beets, and a kale, smoked sausage and quinoa concoction.
Then roasted with some golden beets, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and quinoa with some Dynamite Sauce via the Simple Veganista.  The Dynamite Sauce is indeed dynamite and I highly recommend trying it.
Connectivity
With my unlocked iPhone 6 in my hot little hands I decided to switch cell phone carriers.  Wind Mobile was running an amazing deal that seemed almost too good to be true for the price.  Data, talk, text, plus the ability to purchase a super cheap roaming package whenever Neil and I would go to the US.
Well, if it seems too good to be true it probably is.  Wind’s infrastructure is likely just too small and my signal and service is terrible.  Calls cut out, text messages may or may not arrive in a timely fashion and my battery drains because it is continuously searching for Wind’s signal.  Wind also doesn’t really support iPhones and iMessaging so all of my iPhone contacts have to message me via my e-mail address and not my cell phone number or else I won’t get the message.
Definitely a lesson learned and I’ll be switching to another carrier soon.
Pretty Stuff
I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup in part because I’m lazy and also because it winds up looking like a disgusting mess after a lunch time run.  I had a $20 gift card to use at Sephora and the Urban Decay Naked3 eyeshadow palette caught my eye.  With a renewed desire to make a little more effort on a daily basis I snapped up the eyeshadow palette.
The palette comes with a sample pack of their Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
I was blown away by how well the Primer Potion worked.  No oily lids with caked makeup in the crease.  Taking photos of eye makeup is awkward and I’m not that good at it, but here I am after my run yesterday.

And then last night before bed.  Please pardon the crazy flash.

I know, I’m not wearing that much eyeshadow so it is a little hard to tell, but I’m a believer!  Benefit’s They’re Real mascara doesn’t smudge and give me that dreaded dark under eye circle either.

Who Does That?

Neil and I decided to beef up our holiday movie collection while taking advantage of his free trial period for Amazon Prime.  An essential holiday movie that we did not own was Home Alone so the order was put in and it shipped!  Turns out that UPS delivered it a few days ago, yet somehow it was not on our door step when we got home.

Amazon has phenomenal customer service so there is a replacement copy headed our way.  Ummm…but who steals mail and parcels?

How do you feel about celery root and do you have a favourite way to prepare it?  Has anyone ever stolen one of your parcels?

I can’t believe some jerkfact stole your parcel. Oh that makes me so mad for you!!

I love the Naked 3 palette, it’s definitely my favourite and I’ve been a longtime fan of the primer potion…when I remember to use it 🙂

I’ve heard of stuff getting stolen off porches before, especially around the holidays (seriously people, why?). Maybe it turned up after this post (as I am 9+ days late lol) but at least Amazon was kind enough to send another. We are watching Home Alone as I blog-read!
