My third Goofy Challenge at Walt Disney World is in the books.
My first Goofy was in 2008 and it also happened to be my first marathon.
2008 – 2:41:58 + 6:21:05 = 9:03:03
My second Goofy was in 2013.
2013 – 3:02:16 + 5:44:25 = 8:46:41
Now for 2015…
2015 – 2:28:53 + 5:03:48 = 7:32:41
I had a solid 40 minute improvement on my marathon time, plus I was a full 1:14:00 better on my cumulative race time over 2013. Overall I’m really happy with my race weekend. The weather (for me) was ideal. I took some chances that didn’t necessarily pay off but I was willing to take the risk. Even so this was still my second fastest marathon ever.
With that it is now time to relax, recover and enjoy some quality time at Disney World!

Congratulations Leana! What an incredible time. I can’t wait to hear more about the experience.

Great races, Leana! I think it’s so impressive you were able to improve on your times by so much.
I’m proud of you for taking a chance with your marathon – More of us need to be bold like that more often! Even if it didn’t pan out exactly as you wanted, you still improved on your time. A great result if you ask me 🙂

Thanks Sun! I feel like I’ve learned a lot after three Goofy’s but you still never really know how your body is going to respond to back to back races.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment. Sometimes you have to go fast and take chances, right? I knew it was risky but I still wanted to try anyway. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my thoughts out on the race weekend soon!

Taking chances is what racing is all about. You had a super super solid performance AND to cap it all off, looks like you had a GREAT time out there too. Way to go girl. I see nothing but great things ahead in 2015 for you.
Also, love the new blog layout!
Thank you so much for your comment Alisa! I’m not going to lie…it was a very tough second half of the race and I am not my usual smiley self in my race photos. It was hard, but I still tried to push hard even when I knew my A goal was slipping away from me. I appreiciate all of your support and cheers!
