Sigh..time to go back to work..!
My office is closed Christmas through New Year’s, plus we also got Friday January 2nd off. It is such a nice change from my previous employer where I was on call and worked through many Christmases away from my family. This year my break was a lovely and relaxing time off from work. What did I get up to with all that time off?
A Little Bit of Running
My biggest week of training for the Goofy Challenge just happened to fall over Christmas week. My coach even gifted me 5 x 5:00 hill repeats on Christmas Day so I figured I should wear festive socks! I also ran my final 20 miler of Goofy Challenge training!
Binge Watching Netflix
I don’t tend to watch a lot of movies unless I have time on a weekend morning to sit down and watch something. I just get too tired too early in the evenings! I spent a lot of time catching up on some of the latest offerings on Netflix (plus a few other flicks on iTunes).
Antique Shopping
Neil and I popped by the antique mall in Airdrie. You never know what you might find there!
They have the stirrups!
Hung Some Pictures
Our place is starting to look a little more homey now that I took some time to hang some art on the wall.
I bought these prints over a year and a half ago from Laura Amiss on etsy. I finally put them in frames and hung them on the wall. The prints represent San Francisco, New York, London and Sydney…some of my favourite places in the world! Our wall colour is Benjamin Moore’s Anchor Gray (as painted by the previous owners). It reads a lovely navy/grey in our home.
Neil and I also got these great prints from Rifle Paper Co. at Chapters that seemed perfect in the master bath.
Did a Little Cooking
I helped my parents make some traditional Finnish pastries called pirakka. They are a rye crust stuffed with a rice porridge.
Neil had made some delicious duck stock that we combined with some leftover turkey to make an amazing bowl of ramen.
We also used leftover turkey to make some yummy steamed buns. We picked up the buns from T&T Supermarket and combined them with hoisin sauce, Sriracha, pickled cucumbers and spring onions.
What did you get up to over the Christmas holidays? How do you use up your turkey leftovers?
Wow! Must be nice to have off from Christmas thru New Years. I watched alot of Netflix as well during the holidays. I have been a fan of AHS lately.
Most of the office buildings in downtown Calgary close over the Christmas break. It is definitely a nice perk!
What is AHS?
