Five Races to Run in 2015

February 20, 2015 By: Runner Leana

Today I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their Friday Five Link Up!  Their topic for this week is on races to run in 2015.  Friday Five races to run in 2015I will admit my dance card is not looking as full this year as it has in the past since I am normally a racing fiend!  That partially has to do with wanting to focus on a few key races instead this year.  I’ve also been eying a fall marathon that is a bit up in the air…

Tinker Bell Half Marathon (May 10)Tinker Bell Half Marathon

After so many races at Walt Disney World I figure now is the time to make a trip to the other coast and run a race at Disneyland.  I’m keen to finally earn a Coast 2 Coast medal!

Calgary Marathon (May 31)Scotiabank Calgary Marathon

Assuming I’m able to get back to running in a timely manner I’ve been eying the Calgary Half Marathon as a goal race.  This was my very first half marathon in 2007 and I’m really keen to run it again.  The course looks beautiful (and fairly fast and flat).  Who else wants to come run my hometown with me?

Strathmore Women’s Triathlon (June 7)best-swt-logo2-300x71

This race was my very first triathlon and where I truly fell in love with multisport racing.  This race is very friendly for beginners and first time triathletes.  The race has moved to June now, making it a good option for a warm up event for your triathlon season!Strathmore Tri 08 031

Calgary 70.3 (July 26)Calgary 703

This is going to be my first time racing my hometown Calgary 70.3.  I’ve only raced the run course as part of a relay team.  I’m really looking forward to this event even though the run course is going to be a tough one with a couple of big hills in there!IMG_35221

Banff Winterstart (usually the first Saturday in November)WinterstartRun2011--3393-600X280

I love Winterstart as it is a great excuse for a weekend away in Banff.  This race is 5 miles and it starts just as soon as it gets dark.  Run up a mountain, run back down, then celebrate with beers in the underground parking lot of the host hotel.

Do you have any of the same races on your schedule?

We don’t have any of these races in common, but what an incredible racing year you have ahead of you! I’m very impressed you’re competing in the Ironman 70.3. Triathlons scare me, and I can’t imagine being tough enough to do an Ironman!

I share the opinion of the rest of the crowd. That Banff race looks like a great event. Best of luck in each of your events this year, and enjoy the training to get there.
