Happy Thursday everyone! Thursday means it is time to link up with Amanda from Running With Spoons to share some randomness…
Ever since Peat had surgery in August to remove a benign lump on his rear left leg he has been afraid of going up and down the stairs. Neil and I were pretty sure that we’d have to carry him up and down the stairs from here on out. Peat is making progress though! He’s got his confidence back going up the stairs now. Yesterday he went upstairs on his own because he wanted to, not because we were coaching him or cheering him on. What you can’t see in the picture above is how much his tail is wagging. He certainly is proud of himself!
In other Peat news I cannot wait for his handsome moustache to grow back in.
I read two interesting articles this week. First up, 12 Things No Woman Should Do In Front of Her Husband. Soooo…it is an interesting list and it claims that doing any one of these twelve things will take the romance out of a marriage. I think it is silly to suppose that you always have to be “on” in front of your husband. Isn’t that outdated thinking and not conducive to a healthy marriage? How are you supposed to (and why should you) hide being sick? I’ve had the misfortune of getting sick on vacation and when you are in a hotel room together you can’t exactly hide it.
Also, what is wrong with flossing your teeth? Neil is a much better flosser than I am, so when I see him floss it reminds me I need to as well. The one point I do agree with is having a closed bathroom door policy though.
The second interesting article I read was 6 Things You Shouldn’t Do If You’re Ready to Talk About Marriage. I whole heartedly agree with this list. Marriage is a partnership and you shouldn’t be afraid to talk about it as a couple. When Neil and I dated the first time any talk about marriage or commitment scared him. When we got back together we talked openly about marriage and why it was important to us.
Lately I have been obsessed with bowls for lunch. I have a board on Pinterest dedicated to ideas for weekday lunches and bowl recipes make up about 90% of the content.
And that is the extent of my random babbles for today, but here are questions for you:
- Is there a certain behavior that you think would take the romance out of a marriage?
- Do you have a favourite lunch bowl recipe to share?
Awww, Peat is looking good! Our dog hates going up stairs too, but he is missing his back leg. I don’t know if it hurts him or not, but we are happy to carry him up the few stairs in our entryway!
I know this is super weird, but I don’t like to put deodorant on in front of my husband! Also, my husband has a tongue scrapper brush thing from the dentist that I think is so gross, so he doesn’t do that around me.

Thanks for your comment Marilyn! I figure if I have to carry Peat at all then it is just another excuse for cuddles.
Oh, the tongue scrapper thingie…that is definitely gross!!

I’m in love with the fact that you have a Scottie — I don’t see them around very often! And I absolutely agree with you about the closed door policy. Sick and flossing don’t make much sense to me, but there are certain things that people should only do behind closed doors… no matter how close they are.

Being sick and flossing didn’t make a ton of sense to me either. I don’t expect to have my hair held back but I think a bit of compassion when you aren’t feeling well will go a long way in a marriage.

Don’t even get me started on that whole ‘things you shouldn’t do in front of your husband stuff’ – t don’t believe in hiding anything from your husband. I haven’t read the list but if he doesn’t love me when I’m burping, farting or flossing my teeth then I don’t want him. I don’t think it’s a sign of a strong relationship if simple things like these will kill the romance. Besides, if a couple is planning on having kids, using the bathroom and flossing is going to seem like nothing! Ha ha.

I agree with you Nikki! If something so small will kill the romance in a marriage there are probably other issues!

Awww, yay Peat!!
I have no shame, the only thing I’m probably going to do is close the door in the bathroom….which I don’t currently do because I live alone and Merlin hates to be locked out 🙂

My old dog Finlay used to hate being locked out too. Once Neil moved in I had to make a habit of closing the door which then made Finlay very upset!

If either of us is using the toilet, door closed. That’s the only thing I can think of!
Yes, likewise!!
