Hello friends! Welcome to Thursday…the perfect day for randomness. I’m linking up with Amanda from Running with Spoons for Thinking Out Loud.
Today is the fifth anniversary of my second first date with Neil. See, Neil and I dated for almost a year back in 2007/2008. We broke up and didn’t keep in contact with each other for a year and a half. Five years ago he e-mailed me out of the blue and we went on our second first date. We like to remember and celebrate that little milestone. We won’t be doing anything special tonight but we do have some fun stuff planned for this weekend.
The top left photo is from our first hike together – C Level Cirque in September 2007. Top right is on a trip to Banff soon after we got back together in 2010. The bottom left is one of our engagement photos and the bottom right is us at Disney World this year!
My Macbook is two years old! Before I got my Mac my HP laptops would die on me every two years. I’m still loving my Mac and I couldn’t imagine going back to a PC anymore. Yes, I have fully drunk the Apple Kool-Aid.
Exciting new yesterday…Calgary is getting a Whole Foods (as is Edmonton)! The store in Calgary isn’t slated to open until the summer of 2017, but I’m still excited about the news. Here is hoping that Whole Foods Canada will stock Justin’s and Wild Friends Nut Butter…
I did wind up venturing to Target last week to check out the liquidation sale. I read that angry shoppers in parts of Canada were being rude to Target employees because they were unhappy with the liquidation prices. I feel awful for the Target employees…they are losing their jobs and yet people are upset with the prices. If you don’t like the price of an item then don’t buy it. I am now well stocked up on Method laundry detergent and fabric softener, my favourite stuff.
If I was running right now this song would be one of the first songs on my run playlist.
Closing with a question for my Canadian friends… Given that Target is leaving Canada and there will be several empty stores at malls here, who would you like to see take over that retail space? I would love to see Macy’s or perhaps Bloomingdales make a move north of the border! How about you?
I am SO excited about Whole Foods coming here! Now we need Trader Joes to follow suit.
I’m not a big fan of large department stores like Bloomingdales or Macys so no opinion on what decides to come here. I did hear GoodLife Fitness is looking to acquire a lot of the Target properties to make gyms. That makes me happy 🙂

Yes, I agree with you! I’d love to see a Trader Joe’s here too. Whole Foods is a good start though. I wonder where in the city it will wind up being?
I agree, I’m not necessarily a huge fan of department stores either but it seems like a natural choice to fill the space. That would be interesting for GoodLife to turn some of the properties into gyms. Here’s hoping new tenants are found instead of these spaces staying vacant!

That WF news made me so happy and I second the TJ’s request!!
I can’t believe people are being jerks to the Target employees – they don’t even have control of the pricing, the liquidator does. Grrrrrrr.
That’s so sweet you and Neal celebrate this anniversary.

Yes to Trader Joe’s!! We can all hope, right?

So sorry to burst your bubble, but Canadian Whole Foods does not carry Justins or Wild Friends. Im still hoping they will jump on the band wagon….
Ah shucks Lisa, I was wondering if that was the case! I saw that you can buy Justin’s on Amazon.ca for something like $60 a jar? No nut butter is that good!

Happy Anniversary! That’s cute you guys celebrate!!!
I hope Goodlife takes over some of the Targets too. Although, we didn’t have a Target in Lethbridge haha!

Was there a Zellers in Lethbridge? If so what did it turn into?

There was. I don’t think it is anything right now…. (Although I don’t really drive by that area of the city much!)
C Level Cirque is such a pretty hike once you get to the top, though it does take a lot of work to get there.
I have no idea what’s going to end up in the Target locations. I heard rumors online that Zellers was going to come back.

Zellers coming back? That is interesting!
I agree, C Level Cirque definitely has a beatiful reward at the end!
