Friday Five: Five Good Things

April 3, 2015 By: Runner Leana

Today I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their Friday Five Link Up!  The topic for this week is to share five good things…a very fitting topic for Good Friday, no?Friday Five

1. Stunning triathlon gear…made by women, for women!

I haven’t loved the fit of our custom team gear so I’m on the hunt to find something more flattering and more comfortable.  Betty Designs, Smashfest Queen and Coeur Sports have all debuted some beautiful kits!  Now if only the Canadian dollar would improve…Tri Kits

2. Easter themed gelato flavours

Fiasco Gelato in Calgary makes some of the most delicious gelato I’ve tried.  They come out with fun and unique specialty flavours throughout the year.  Right now I’m loving the Carrot Cake and Cream Cheese gelato.  It tastes just as good as my mom’s carrot cake!Carrot+Cake+Gelato+

3. Dove #OneBeautifulThought

I think we all struggle with body image (I even wrote about my struggle here).  Dove’s campaign is brilliant and shows us just how hurtful the words are that we say to ourselves.dove-france_4-e1426588959262

4. Training Peaks Webinar: Developing Mental Toughness

One of my goals for this year is to work on my mental toughness.  I was perusing the Training Peaks blog and discovered that they are hosting a webinar on April 9th on this topic!  Carrie Cheadle, author of On Top of Your Game, will be sharing tools to develop your own mental toughness.  There is no cost to register.  If you can’t listen in during the live webinar the recorded video will be available later.  (Psst…want to be a Training Peaks amabassador?  Sign up here!)tp_logo

5. Pushing Outside Your Comfort Zone

I signed up for a spin class at Tri It that definitely pushes me outside my comfort zone.  The class is based on your power zones.  I haven’t trained with power before and let me tell you…this definitely keeps you honest on the bike!  Class was hard but I felt energized for pushing my boundaries (and honestly a little sweaty too).IMG_0713

Share something good in your life on this Good Friday!

Last weekend I was at a Sunterra and they had a freezer with Fiasco gelatos in them right by the checkout. It took a LOT of will power to not get one, they had so many amazing sounding flavors.

I didn’t know Sunterra sold Fiasco! I’ll have to check them out the next time I’m on the hunt for new flavours. 🙂

I would love that gelato flavor! I’ve only been to a spin class once. But this weather makes me want to get out my old mountain bike (school bus yellow) and take it for a spin! Ha. Enjoy your weekend!

I’ll count the now 3 beautiful days I got to run with no gloves and hat. A 5 day weekend from work and some wonderful runny buddies to share my pain as we increase our mileage. They keep me smiling.

I hear you on all the new kits out there! I have to officially say “NO” to all new gear, but i’s great to have options, especially as a non-pink-wearing female! (not that pink’s bad – it’s just not my thing)

Tri clothing has gotten so much nicer over the past few years. I like that there is more options compared to 4 years ago. The Easter themed gelato sounds amazing.
