Wow did last week turn out to be busy! I’m linking up with Tara from Running ‘n’ Reading for her Weekend Update Link Up to share a bit about what I gotten up to over the last few days.
Monday brought some beautiful weather for hill repeats. I had to remind myself that hills would feel hard whether I ran up the hill slowly or quickly so I challenged myself to run faster when my legs were tired and didn’t want to go.
Wednesday was my final spin class at Tri-It for the season. We went out with a bang with all out max efforts of 10 x 0:10 as hard as you can go and 0:10 recovery…twice. I wanted to keel over when it was all done.
Instead I went home, put game one of the Canucks vs Flames playoff series on TV and tucked into this amazing dinner that Neil made.
It is based off of the Salmon and Kimchi rice bowl in this month’s Runner’s World magazine. Neil steamed steelhead trout in a parchment pouch in the microwave with liquid from the kimchi and some shredded carrot. Topped with pineapple, sesame seeds and nori.
On Friday I ran a new route and wound up running all the way to the Stampede grounds. I was amazed at the number of people there…and I spotted Mr. Incredible, Ironman, and two guys in full on combat fatigues. Then I realized the Calgary Comic Expo was on!
Yay for running in shorts!
Friday night pizza at Una followed by game two of the Canucks vs. the Flames. Which jersey to wear??
On Saturday after a 90 min spin and 15 min brick I popped by the mall to scope out Anthropologie. They always have some fun stuff and I love this watermelon print blouse!
Sunday I headed out for a 90 min run through Bowmont Park. With my runs getting longer it was time to get my Camelbak out!
And take a GU!
It was a beautiful day and I had an amazing run. To refuel Neil and I opted to have a late breakfast at Corbeaux Bakehouse.
The steak and eggs Benedict was out of this world.
Tell me about your weekend! What did you get up to?
I love running in Bowmont park, so pretty and so many hills!
And that breakfast! That looks amazing!
Erin, Corbeaux is awesome! I highly recommend it. And yes, Bowmont is so pretty but very hilly!

LOVE that watermelon blouse too! And I love your attitude about hills. I realize that if I want to call myself a runner, I have to do hills. Period. They WILL make me stronger!

Thanks for your comment! It took me a few repeats to get that positive attitude about hills but it does help. And yes, running hills is amazing for building strength and stamina!

Okay, the food pics have me famished! I’d have gone with the white jersey and, while we’re talking Comic Expo, those running shorts look suspiciously like Spidey shorts…lol
Thanks for your comment Brian! I do love the old school white flying skate jersey. I’ve never worn it though because it has Trevor Linden’s autograph on the back which has actually faded now after 20 years or so!

Woohoo! Go Canucks go!! My friends give me a hard time about cheering for the Canucks but I’ve been a fan longer than I’ve lived in Calgary. Here’s hoping they win game 4!

Those eggs bendict look really good! It’s going to be an intense series between the Flames and the Canucks.

Yes! Corbeaux is amazing and I highly recommend it.
The Flames and Canucks always wind up being great games. My husband said the Canucks turned into goons at the end of last night though? Wow…bad blood!

Awesome! I love those all-out sprints on the bike. I’m a fast-twitcher at heart, take those over a tempo effort any day. I’m going to be dreaming about that arugula and shaved parmesan pizza also. Yumm

I need to work on my fast twitch!! I’m much more of the coast along and keep it easy type but that won’t help me get much faster!

I received a CamelBak for Christmas and still have not used it. I think it will definitely come in handy this summer on long runs. That pizza looks awesome!

I bought my Camelbak several years ago and started using it while training for the Goofy Challenge this winter. I find it is better if you want to carry a bit more fluid than a bottle and my waist pack was starting to cause some lower back pain. Hope you love Camelbak too!

The watermelon blouse reminds me that I need to pick up some more Nuun tabs, is that normal?! Super cute though. Would have loved to run around the Comic Expo a bit to check out costumes, amazing the effort fans put into their apparel.

I’m glad I could help remind you to get more nuun!! I was blown away by the handful of costumes I saw going in to the Comic Expo. So much effort and detail!
