Weekend In Review 04.27.2015

April 27, 2015 By: Runner Leana

How was your weekend friends?

On Saturday I had a tough spin workout to do.  It involved intervals at my best average power.

Yikes.  I set some tough targets for myself and I actually sobbed in the middle of an interval because it was so hard.  This workout took a lot of mental strength to keep pushing through.

After the ride I took my wobbly legs on a brick run.

By the time I was done my spin and brick I was ready for some food.  Neil and I took advantage of Halfy Hour at Anejo.  Half price tacos and $5 margaritas?  Yes please!

We were home with plenty of time to catch game six of the Vancouver Canucks vs the Calgary Flames.  It was all good when the Canucks were leading 3-0.

But then the Canucks blew their lead and got eliminated from the playoffs.  Oh well…now I can go back to my usual 9/9:30 pm bedtimes.

On Sunday morning I had a 1:45 long run to do.  My legs were trashed from the previous day’s spin so it was a bit slower than my last couple of long runs but luckily I had some company!  I met up with Shannon and Tara for part of my run.  Tara ran Boston on Monday and she absolutely aced her race.  It was so great to meet up with her and to hear all about it.

Plus Tara brought me back a little present…the Oiselle #BelieveInBoston tee!  Thank you Tara!!

On Sunday night Neil and I were off to Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios.

I loved the music and costumes and the performance was amazing.  I always wonder how Cirque comes up with their concepts.  The creativity and athleticism blows my mind.

After Cirque was done Neil and I made our way to Hotel Arts for the Cocktail Carnival for Cancer fundraiser.  Several of Calgary’s best cocktail bars and restaurants had tables and were pouring up some delicious libations and serving tasty treats.

Check out the cotton candy tree!

All in all it was a very fun and very busy weekend!  What did you get up to?

What a fantastic weekend you had! So much going on! I am sorry to hear about the Canucks… I had the same issue with the Senators.. but at least Canada still has two teams in the playoffs which is good, right? 🙂

I love Cirque shows, I didn’t buy tickets to Kurios this year though, it seemed to creep up on me!

I love Cirque shows too. They had a sale on tickets around Valentine’s day that I pounced on!

That margarita looks delicious! I’m usually in bed pretty early, so I’ve only been watching the first period of the hockey games before going to bed. Hopefully the next round will have some earlier start times.

I had the cilantro cucumber margarita along with the cocount chili one. I think the coconut chili one was my favourite. Not too sweet and just a touch of heat. Anejo runs their halfy hour every day from 3-5 so definitely worth checking out!

What a fun weekend! I am curious -how did you make your medal hanger? I like it! This year’s Oiselle Boston tee is cute, I managed to pick one up last year when I was there for the BAA 5K. Nice you were able to catch up with your friends!
