I have a confession to make. I didn’t wind up running on National Running Day. I was up early, I put my running clothes on, but then I spent so much time futzing around trying to find my heart rate monitor strap that Peat was awake and ready for his walk. My window to run was gone! The good news is I ran yesterday, it was lovely out and my run actually felt really good.
In honour of National Running Day on June 3rd I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their Friday Five Link Up to share five reasons for why I run…
1. To explore new places
One of my favourite things to do while traveling is to go for a run. I think my favourite experience to date was when I had an almost 24 hour layover at LAX so I went for an awesome 10 mile run in Manhattan Beach between flights.
I also love exploring my hometown as well!
2. I run for friendship
I feel so fortunate to have met some wonderful friends both locally…
…and online thanks to running.
3. I run for breakfast.
I am sure this is not news to anyone.
All of my breakfast photos lately are from Corbeaux Bakehouse…
4. I run for the challenge.
I love to challenge my perceptions on what I think I’m capable of…whether it is finishing knowing I’ve completly emptied the tank…
…or challenging the limits of my endurance.
5. I run for me.
When I’m running and I’m active I just feel better about myself. I’ve spent some time looking at old photos from a few years ago and I definitely didn’t feel happy in my skin.
I know that I’m doing something good for my body and my health when I go out for a run. I also find that running is a great stress reliever. Running brings me joy.
Why do you run?
I really need to get to Corbeaux one of these days! Food is definitely a key reason why I run 🙂

Running and not feeling guilty about the food you eat is always something I look forward to after a race. Work first, indulge later:)

All those reasons! Running is a stress reliever, makes me happier, allows me to see and experience things I would otherwise miss. It helps me push my limits, and lets me know I can acheive anything I set my mind to.

I think I ran a whopping mile on National Run Day. Woo! I love the long-layover run. Although yuck to a long layover. At least it was long enough to do something productive!
