Happy National Running Day my friends!
I’m not sure if National Running Day officially extends to Canada or not but I’m happy to celebrate here regardless. I was not a natural born athlete and I didn’t love running until my mid to late twenties. I’ve shared my journey to becoming a runner before and these days it is hard to imagine my life without running.
Women’s Running Magazine wants to help share the running love on National Running Day by offering up a 6 month subscription for only $5! It is hard to beat an offer like that. I’ve had my subscription to Women’s Running for about a year and a half now and I love the magazine.
In honour of National Running Day I thought I’d do something fun. My friend Tara likes to proclaim that I always look so happy in my race photos. Little does she know that I’m just very choosy about what photos I share. Today I’m going to share some of my least flattering race photos!!
From the 2011 Walt Disney World Half Marathon…
I spot my parents in the crowd…
…pass off my long sleeve top…
…and my dad keeps shooting pictures.
Hello sweaty armpit!
From Ironman Canada 2012…a not very flattering photo on the bike course! Do I look like I’m having fun? I’m pretty sure I’m not.
From the 2013 Mickey’s Happy Haunted 5K Trail Race. Sometimes the race photographers capture you at the absolute worst part of your run stride. Oof. Also, I do not understand what I do with my hands.
In the final mile of the Tinker Bell half marathon. Holy cow I was hurting here!
And finally on Sunday’s Calgary Half Marathon running through East Village. This was about 35 to 40 minutes into the race and I look like I am not enjoying it at all!
How are you celebrating National Running Day today? I have a 40 minute run on tap for today. Happy celebrating my friends!
Isn’t it fun to laugh at some of our race photos? Thanks for sharing those! I hope that Canada celebrates National Running Day too, but regardless, I’m glad that you are celebrating:) Thanks for linking up!

Sometimes race photos are so brutal! And almost always mine are especially if I don’t see the camera.

Seriously, I look like I hate life and everyone in the world in my Calgary race photos. I swear I was smiling at one point during the race?!?!?!? Hahaha

I too am not a natural athlete and didn’t start running until my late 20s.
