It is Thursday…which means it is time to link up with the lovely Amanda from Running With Spoons and to share some random thoughts…
All I can think about is that I have two days of work left for 2015 and then I am on vacation! I am looking forward to a little bit of downtime…
This week has had some really hard workouts in them! I had some speed work to do on Monday where I discovered a brand new max heart rate apparently!
Wednesday night was another level of hurt because we did a 20 minute FTP test at spin class to close out the year. Basically after doing a *really* good warm up you ride at your absolute best effort for 20 minutes. I actually thought I might need a bucket next to my bike because there was a strong urge to toss some cookies near the end. I think I am starting to get to that mental space where I can suffer and know that I will come through the other side. It is a process, but it is happening!
This picture is evidently not of me during my FTP test because I’m smiling. I did not look nearly that joyful last night. But…the cool thing about last night’s class was that there was a Garmin event happening at Tri It at the same time and I got to say hi to some friends I have not seen in ages…Keith, Cindy, Michelle and Tina!
I was almost late for spin class because when Neil and I got home last night we found a dog wandering down our back alley who was clearly lost. They had a collar and a tag, but they were too skittish to let me approach them and they soon ran off. I really, really hope they are okay.
On a completely different note, have you tried Run Gum before? It is a caffeinated gum with B vitamins and taurine designed to give you an extra boost in your workout. I don’t know if it works or is just a mental boost or not, but I do like to chew a piece before a really hard workout. Their new cinnamon flavour just landed in their online store and I’m keen to give this new flavour a try! Sadly they do not ship to Canada so this one if for my US friends only (or those of you that know someone with a US mailing address).
Oh…and excitement! I booked my plane tickets to Phoenix for the Phoenix Marathon in February! With travel booked and my long runs getting longer the race is starting to feel a bit more real. If you’ve been thinking about registering for the race, you can do so here.
You can earn one of those cool medals for yourself!
Alright my friends…share something random from your week!
Booking travel arrangements always makes trips seem more real. Good luck in Phoenix!
Poor dog, I hope he found his way home too!

I love going places and being surprised by who else is there, especially when you haven’t seen them in a while. Pity we’re all so busy. You were still smiling when I saw you, as was Kelly, so I’m guessing that’s before the FTP test. Were you pleased at the results?

I wish I was doing Phoenix again this year but I’m really trying to do more local races. Traveling was rough on my savings last year haha

Caffeinated gum?!?! Ohhh man. I could see that being very dangerous for me 😆 Love the idea, though. And I hate coming across lost animals 🙁 Definitely hope the pooch got home safe!
