I have some exciting news to share…I’ve been selected to join the SOAS Racing ambassador team for 2016!
When I first started in triathlon I exclusively wore my Team Tri Life kit. I loved the design and visually being a part of the team. Unfortunately the kit didn’t fit very well. It was like the tops weren’t meant to accommodate hips. I spent so much money on pieces I couldn’t try on before I ordered that wound up not being flattering for a women’s body.
I spent much of my run in the triathlon tugging down my top that kept rolling up.
I’d have to be diligent about applying sunscreen to my lower back to make sure it wouldn’t burn on the bike.
When you are racing for several hours you want your gear to be comfortable! This year I tested out a few different brands of tri kits to see what other options were out there. There are some pretty amazing brands that are making some gorgeous kits – by women, for women! By the end of the season I had a clear favourite – SOAS Racing.
The kit was so comfortable…no adjusting or tugging down my top on the run!
I loved the fun and flattering designs. And no muffin top from the tri shorts!
The two races I wore a SOAS kit at I happened to make it on the podium (at the Chinook Olympic and Banff Subaru Olympic). It seemed like SOAS was my good luck charm!
I’m excited to join a team of strong women rocking the SOAS brand all across the world. It will be great to have some fellow SOAS teammates at my two big races this year – Ironman St. George 70.3 and Ironman Boulder! We will all be flying down the race course in this spectacular team kit…
Besides the team kit, I also love the Sunset Cliffs…
…and the Speed Series…
I can’t wait to see what designs come out for 2016!
What do you look for in a tri kit? Have you tried SOAS Racing before?
That is so exciting-congratuations!! I love the blue. I’ve never tried on any tri stuff (haha-see what I did there?) because I don’t think I have the right shape for clothing so fitted. All I wear are oversized volunteer or race tech shirts over running shorts.
Thanks so much for your comment Amy! I totally understand…wearing a bunch of spandex can definitely be intimidating and can feel uncomfortable. My size and shape has changed quite a bit over the years so if you are ever looking for some feedback on gear I’d be more than happy to help you, be it running gear or tri gear!

I might take you up on that! Definitely let me know when new SOAS arrives at Richelle’s. I’d like to get my first tri suit for my little race this summer-all of my workout stuff is years old and pretty worn out. I do worry about feeling uncomfortable by having to tug at and adjust what I’m wearing because it’s clingy, but I’m not going to know unless I try!
Congrats Leana. I love the look of those clothes, they are definitely more flattering and girly looking!

Sizing just kills me! It changes from time to time and you never know how it’s going to fit. That’s why I never get stuff on line. I have one medium finisher’s shirt that fits perfectly, and a large that fits just a bit too snug on me. Sigh. Then we start talking about changes in our own shape from year to year, and that piece that fit so well last year somehow doesn’t fit any more. Or did the spandex lose it’s zap? Even by the time you know it fits, and want to get more of it, then the store will be out of your size.
It’s worse for women. They’ve got more curves to deal with, and, AND they often want an outfit that looks good on them, or the colours flatter them. The words matchy matchy come to mind, to quote a buddy. Not all women, of course.
Getting enough coverage to cover what you think needs to be covered is another issue, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a swim suit, a cycling jersey, or run shorts. Then you have to extrapolate how it looks/feels in the change room, to what it will be like out on the course, after many hot and sweaty hours. Sometimes I think it’s a wonder any of us end up with anything we like.

Sizing is really hard! I should pull together a pile of my old TTL gear that didn’t work out to see if any of my team members would want any of the pieces.

I am with SMASH this year! Very excited about it! I’ve been loving their kits since before they were “SMASH”. Now if only the Canadian dollar would smarten up and I could afford all the kits I want LOL. I always think the SOAS kits look good when I see them – congrats again! It’s going to be a fun year! What local races are you doing this year?
Awesome!!1 Congratulations! They look awesome on you!! Way to rock it!!

They have some great designs! I’m looking to get a new tri kit but will probably wait for a sale seeing how the Canadian dollar isn’t the greatest right now 🙁
I know Vicky! The exchange rate is definitely tough right now! 🙁

Woohoo! Congrats Leana! Where can you buy that great looking stuff?
Thanks Jacque! In Calgary both Tri It and Speed Theory are distributors for SOAS gear. I’ll have a chat with Richelle and Rose but I’m sure they are planning to bring in their new 2016 gear when it comes out.

Congrats! It’s always nice to be comfortable AND fashionable. I don’t have a kit from SOAS but I have a pair of armwarmers and I have their Barcelona nights running tights and those are THE MOST comfortable tights I’ve ever worn. I love, love, love them!
In addition to SOAS, I do have 2 tri kits from Smashfest Queen which are great and a ton of bike kits from VanderKitten. Both of these companies, like SOAS, focus on women, and their gear fits me quite well and is super fun. Win/win!

I haven’t tried the SOAS run tights yet but I have my eye on the Sunset Cliffs ones. Those look like fun!
I love the kits from Smashfest as well. It is great to see that there are so many more options out there now. I haven’t heard of VanderKitten before though. I need to look into that!

Congrats Leana! I loved being on Team SOAS for the last 2 years. I will miss being your teammate since I am taking the year off racing to have my baby. You will LOVE it, SOAS ladies are the best.
Congratulations Leana and greetings from Finland!
Congratulations! What a great opportunity for you!
