Happy Thursday friends! Today is the perfect day to share some random thoughts and link up with Amanda from Running With Spoons for Thinking Out Loud.
First up…thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments on my Phoenix Marathon race report. I am sad I didn’t meet my expectations and I wanted to be open and honest about my feelings regarding the race. I loved the advice that Marilyn gave me about allowing myself an opportunity to feel sad about the race, but then it is important to move on and not let this get in my head. That is so true. Thanks friends!
One of the things I love about being on the Oiselle team is the opportunity to connect with runners everywhere. I was able to connect with several runners before the race, then ran into a few other ladies on course. The spirit of community and support with these incredible women is so uplifting.
I also cherished the opportunity to spend time with my coach, Angie, in Phoenix. I’ve been working with Angie since September 2008 and she moved to Phoenix a few years ago. It was so nice to have some in person time with her and to discuss the race and training for Ironman 70.3 St. George and Ironman Boulder this year. I also really loved the opportunity to spend time with my teammate Sarah who was in Phoenix for a training camp.
I’ve been pretty lucky with toenail health over the course of training and racing. I’ve had the odd bit of bruising here and there, but that’s it. Well, I got my first two purple toenails post race! I’ll spare you a picture of that one and share an obligatory photo of me and a cactus in Arizona instead.
I found this little gem at a candy store in Phoenix.
And finally, being in the US meant trying to eat some of my favourite foods that aren’t available here in Canada! Mint M&Ms, siggi’s Icelandic style yogurt and Chipotle!
That’s all for this week for me my friends! Tell me something fun and random from your life this week!
Those mint M&Ms look amazing!!! I love Chobani when I go to the states! I wish we had it here!

I know, I’m surprised we don’t have Chobani here yet!

I can’t imagine not having Chipotle! I love going new places to see what they do/don’t have!
Chipotle is definitely one of the things I miss about the US. We have something similar here called Mucho Burrito but I still miss Chipotle!

As a Canadian living in the United States you may have found one of the few foods I would miss if I moved back to Canada, Siggis!
Also love the breath mints.
I did find an Icelandic style skyr yogurt at Real Canadian Superstore…it isn’t a bad alternative, but it isn’t as good as Siggi’s!

Fun AND random? How about data transformations for BC pipeline identifiers? Order matters.

Siggi’s is my favourite!! I love it so much. I should ask my mom to smuggle some to me next time she’s there 🙂

I was inspired to try Siggi’s after you were posting about it at BlogFest last year. Superstore now has an Icelandic style skyr yogurt though! It isn’t quite as good as Siggi’s but it is pretty tasty!

Amg Chipotle!! I’m not even kidding when I say that it’s one of the things I look forward to most when I’m down in the States. When are they going to get the message and move their butts up here?!?!
Chipotle…I know, right? I think they have (or used to have) stores in Toronto and Vancouver? I wish it would make its way to Alberta. Mucho Burrito is not a bad alternative though!

That Canadian lip balm is hilarious!
Mint M&MS? Not my jam. Not a fan of mint and chocolate however coconut M&Ms, I would do bad things for.

Coconut m&ms are delicious! Sadly mint was the only flavour I was able to find.
