Who is Runner Leana?
I’m an adult onset runner and triathlete. Growing up I was not athletically inclined at all. I hated the mile I had to run around the track in school every month and scoffed at the idea of a runner’s high. In my early 20s I was encouraged to sign up with a corporate team to run the 10K Vancouver Sun Run.
Despite never running more than a mile before I actually really enjoyed the race. Over the next few years I ran the odd race here and there but it wasn’t until I moved to Calgary in 2006 that my love for running really took flight. Before I knew it I was signing up for my first marathon.
Somewhere along the way I decided to buy a bike and to see if I could still remember how to swim. Now here I am with seven half Ironman races and three full Ironman races under my belt. What’s next?
Outside of the swimming, biking and running I’m a wife, an engineer, and a wine enthusiast. I love to travel and try new foods. My husband Neil and I have the best little Scottish Terrier named Peat. We all just recently moved from Calgary, Alberta to Vancouver, BC where I am a full time MBA candidate at the UBC Sauder School of Business (class of 2018).
