Anyhow, I finally got out for my first run of the week today. The snow had stopped falling and I was getting a certain amount of cabin fever. I had a 45 minute run on the schedule. I didn’t head out until about 11 am and all I’d had for breakfast was some coffee cake and a muffin. Not entirely substantial I guess… Given all the snow I strapped on the Yak Trax. They felt awesome to run in. I avoided some of the freshly shovelled sidewalks so that I could run on the packed snow instead. I didn’t notice that it altered my gait at all. And there was some pretty significant snow to run in:
As I reached a point in the road where I had to decide whether to go left or right I noticed that I felt really dizzy when I stopped. My heart rate wasn’t even in zone 1, but wow I felt really…not…good. Must have been my choice of coffee cake for breakfast. I called it quits 30 minutes in. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow, so here’s hoping that things are a bit more successful!
Yeah for yaktraxs’. I feel so much more confident on the snow in them.
You know every once in awhile I’ll get dizzy on my runs too…I think it’s a female thing for me.
That is a lot of snow and I certainly don’t think trying to run 35K would have been wise.
I hope today’s run is dizzy-free!
Glad you made is safely! great pictures and ya, i’ve had a few of those dizzy runs too! with the snow we’ve gotten this year, i think i definitely need to get some Yak Trax!
I like your running photo taken in front of the Mission Hill Winery!
All that snow is unbelievable for Kelowna! Does this mean there will be lots of icewine?
Hope your next venture out to run goes better!
I hope you feel better!
How funny to see those shoe attachments…of course, we don’t see things like that here in FL. It was over 80 degrees on Xmas day! Watch, it will be cold when you come for Disney, but should be MUCH warmer than there. 🙂
Yikes, I hope you are feeling okay…could it be low blood pressure?
Stay safe!
I might have to try a pair of thos Yak Trax. I agree with RunToFinish…. I have felt dizzy on runs before and I think it is a female thing… possibly due to hormones? Just my theory. HA!
I think you’ll be great for Disney, better a longer taper than not a big enough one.
I cannot believe you’re in BC with that much snow!! At least it’s not minus crazy stoopid outside!
Where you happy to be reunited with the pooch??
I gotta get me some of those too. I had to do too much walking on my run outside today because of unplowed streets and sidewalks…
Awesome to see you’re enjoying the Yaktrax! And by the looks of it, the snow as well!
