Timex Time

April 30, 2009 By: Runner Leana

As I mentioned yesterday, my workouts are totally up to me this week. I wanted to get out for a nice and easy run over lunch today. As I was driving into work I realized that I packed everything except for my Garmin and HRM strap. Truthfully, I’m pretty tied to that gadget, but I figured that this would be the perfect time to run without it. It was somewhat cool, but nice and sunny out, so it was a great day to be on the pathways for a run. My shins were a bit sore on the run so I took some walk breaks and wound up running for just over 30 minutes.

The weather tomorrow is looking somewhat half decent so I’d really like to try and ride into work tomorrow. The only thing is I have swimming on Thursday mornings! I figured I’d take my chances at my local Y for a late night swim. I got in the water just before 9 pm and had an hour. I actually really liked the swim workout from Tuesday. It was a 2500m workout that I had to cut 300m short. I thought I would see if I could get it all done tonight. It was pretty quiet at the pool and even though I was sharing a lane we all kept out of each other’s way and I got into a really great groove. I wound up being the last one in the water. I was 100m short and they were taking the lane dividers down so I figured it was time to call it a night. So there we go…2200m on Tuesday, 2400m today!

***In hockey pool news, I won round one!!! We shall see how things shake out in round two.

Wow, awesome long swims! I used to swim competitive and could easily swim 2000-2500m but now I find I lose focus and tire so easily! At least with running, I have music. What helps you get through them?

wow! impressive swim! 🙂 some days you just need to ‘unplug’ on a run. i’m pretty addicted to my data too, but occasionally i’ll just run ‘bare’ without my watch/hrm/nike+

It’s kind of nice running watch-free now and then… I just wish I had the willpower to do it more often.

    Nice swims!

I’m glad you’re finally getting back to cycling outside! I like the trainer b/c there aren’t any cars, but I understand the difference between a treadmill and the great outdoors!

p.s. I signed up for the San Francisco Marathon. Any chance you’d come down for that 🙂 ?
