On Friday I officially became a part of the female 35 – 39 year age category! I have to admit, it was a pretty amazing day. I was still riding a giddy high on the invitation to join Nuun’s Ragnar Northwest Passage relay team. Then the next cool thing happened…I got to meet Simon Whitfield!
It is hard to not love Simon Whitfield and I jumped at the chance to be able to swim with him. We got a swim cap and a “let’s just be friends” sticker from Tri-It with our registration.
Simon did a little Q&A with all of us before the swim. He talked a little bit about his training, what he’s up to right now and what his future goal races are. He’s such a personable guy!
Then it was time to swim!

Simon jumped from lane to lane to talk to us and give us some tips. He also brought some of his pool toys for us to try, including this neat swim parachute to add some drag in the pool. Wow it was hard to swim with that parachute trailing behind you!

What an amazing morning! Thanks for all of the swimming tips Simon!!
My friend Tara also brought me some cupcakes for my birthday!
Neil took me out for dinner to one of our favourite restaurants in Calgary, Model Milk. Little did I know, but he had been conspiring with the chef during the week to home up with a special tasting menu with wine pairings for my birthday!
So far 35 is looking pretty good..!!
That sounds awesome! Happy birthday! 35 was my absolute favorite year so enjoy!
That’s fantastic!! Happy Birthday to you! Congrats on Ragnar too, can’t wait to hear all about it. So many good things happening.
Simon, cupcakes, Ragnar. Very cool birthday indeed!
