Today I’m linking up with MCM Mama, My No Guilt Life and Run the Great Wide Somewhere to share my favourite fitness apps for Tuesdays on the Run!
I only have a handful that I use so I can’t wait to see what apps everyone else loves.
Water Alert Pro ($1.19)
While this isn’t exactly a fitness app per se it does fall into the health and wellness category. I was looking for an app to keep track of how much water I drink every day. I do a fairly good job of drinking water at work but I need to improve my consumption on the weekends. You can set up alerts within the app to remind you to drink water, customize your goal and your drink size containers. There is also a free version of the app.
Nike Training Club (Free)
I may have mentioned my love for the Nike Training Club app before. Not only is this app free but it contains an endless array of workout options. This is my go to app for strength training. In the past I’ve mostly done the 15 minute “get focused” routines but there are a lot of great options in the other categories too.
There is a lot of content to download so you may want to make sure you are on wi-fi to get all of the workouts.
Workout Timer (Free)
When I do core work I’ll typically pick ten exercises and do each one for a minute. I was looking for a no frills timing app that I could set up to time me for a minute, then give me a couple of seconds of recovery as I switch to the next move. I like that you can customize your timer, plus you can switch between Tabata, rounds or stopwatch functions.
Those are the apps I use most frequently! How about you? What is your favourite fitness related iPhone app?
I love Nike and the timer app I use for my plank days. My Garmin has a bluetooth sync but otherwise, I don’t use a lot of fitness apps. I know I should–there are so many great ones out there!!

Those are really the only apps I use. I’ve tried downloading various ab workout apps but I didn’t find them all that great. There seems to be a lot of love for the NTC app!

I love Nike Training App! I’m using Hydro Coach to remind me to drink enough water – it really works!

NTC is such an awesome app. I don’t used it every day, but anytime I’m out of town I’m so glad I have it!

Yes, NTC is definitely great if you are on the road!

I use NTC too. It’s awesome when I don’t have a lot of time and need to sneak in a workout. I’ll have to try out that timer app.

The NTC app seems to be one of the most popular ones! I love that they have 15 minute workout options. It makes it easy to fit something in.

That water app sounds great. A perfect reminder to stay hydrated.

Yes, I’m finding the water app really useful so far! There are a ton out there so I’m not sure if there is another app that is easier to use?

I have used NTC in the past also but recently started with a new app available, FitSpark. It’s body weight exs chosen for you in an interval type format, options of 7, 10, 15 or 20 min sessions. It was developed by a great local physio here in Kamloops which is why I initially tried it, and has turned out to be really useful and I’ve stuck with it.
I might have to look at the Water Alert app for myself though 🙂
I’ll have to look into the FitSpark app. That sounds like another great option!

Great apps! I have the interval timer app and you can program and save different interval based workouts.

Oh, I didn’t know you could save different interval workouts. That’s handy! Thanks for your comment Coco!

I just used the Nike Pro for my core workout today. I like it because then I switch up my routine and don’t get bored of the same old thing
