Hello Thursday!! I’m linking up with Amanda from Running With Spoons for Thinking Out Loud.
My final triathlon of the year is this weekend in Banff! I am:
- Nervous about the incredibly cold swim.
- Excited about spending time in the mountains with Neil.
- Looking forward to riding what I hear is one of the prettiest bike courses around.
I haven’t ridden my bike outside in a really long time. Once I put the trainer tire on it was easier to leave it on and ride inside. Here’s hoping I can still ride up a hill!
Early morning workouts are hard…
But Peat came downstairs and kept me company as I rode my bike in the basement at 5 am the other day.
The long weekend was cold and rainy so I spent a lot of time in sweatpants. Fall is generally a “blink and you’ll miss it” kind of season here in Calgary so I honestly didn’t mind too much. I also started watching a show on Netflix…initially out of curiosity but then I couldn’t look away.
Rock this Boat with NKOTB. You follow along with several super fans on a cruise with NKOTB as they party and try to hang out with the New Kids. I’ve seen NKOTB in concert twice but I’m pretty sure that going on a cruise with a bunch of other screaming fans would not be my jam. It is fun to watch though.
In an effort to train my brain in addition to my body I decided to give meditation a try. I downloaded the Headspace app and just finished up day 10 of 10 minutes of meditation a day. It has been really interesting so far, and as I go further in this journey I’ll share more later.
Have you tried meditation before? Would you ever go on a cruise with your favourite band?
A cruise with NKOTB that’s so funny and ridiculous. Hanging onto any part of fame they can still.

Neil said the same thing…but you know, I guess there are still so many people out there that still love them. If they can still make money off of it oh well!

I’ve considered meditation a lot but never committed enough to it! I do hear it works wonders on stress and anxiety. That triathlon looks like it will be beautiful!

Doing regular meditation for 15 days so far has been interesting! I’m curious to see how continuing on regularly will affect or change things. Thanks for your comment and I hope you had a great weekend!

Have a great time in Banff this weekend Leana! The swim is seriously cold, but prepare for it and enjoy it! It’s the clearest, cleanest water and is truly beautiful! You know Banff, so you know the bike route is awesome, that loop is totally breathtaking. And the run on the trails along the river … well you know. Good luck and enjoy the mountains. We get there as often as we can, there is just something magical about them that no matter how many times we’re there, it’s always a great time. Are you spending extra time there or heading back on Saturday after the race?
Thanks so much for the tips Jenn. The swim was really cold but it did start to feel better…maybe because I turned numb? It was such a beautiful place for a race and we lucked out with some amazing weather! And yes, we spent an extra day in Banff to enjoy things a bit more besides rushing in and out for a race.

I hate that our fall is so short and starts so early. It’s been cold here in Edmonton too, and our leaves are already starting to turn yellow and fall. Looks like it’s gonna be another year where we have snow by Halloween 😆 And NKOTB totally makes me think of my childhood. Not sure I’d be keen on being on a boat with them, though…

Yeah, I’m not so sure I’d want to be on a boat with NKOTB either!
Here is hoping both Calgary and Edmonton have a lovely fall ahead!
