My big “A” race of the year is here…Ironman Boulder is on Sunday! It is hard to believe that after so much time spent training and thinking about this race that it is actually here. Here are five things that happened this week leading up to the race:
1. Yellowstone
Neil and I had a great few days spending time in Yellowstone! We hiked a few short trails, we stayed in a charming room in the Old Faithful Inn (the original wing, with shared bathrooms down the hall), and I sipped coffee while watching Old Faithful erupt.
2. Oiselle Happy Hour
I was able to get together with some wonderful Colorado members of Oiselle for happy hour beverages and tapas at The Med. Special thanks to Lisa for organizing our get together. It was so lovely to connect with everyone!
3. Riding the Ironman Boulder Bike Course
Neil and I drove the bike course and I rode about 25K worth of it on Wednesday. I have to say I’m really excited about this course. It looks fun and there is some really pretty scenery along the way!
4. Swimming at the Boulder Reservoir
On Thursday morning I joined the Boulder Aquatic Masters (BAM) for one of their open water swims at the reservoir. Catching the sunrise over the water was amazing! BAM had buoys set up for 650 m and 1000 m courses and there was a ton of support on the water. Driving to the reservoir race week started to hit me and I was getting a little choked up…
5. Visiting Ironman Village
There is so much to see and do at Ironman Village! I chatted with Rachel Joyce about #whyitri and I put my feet up and tested out a pair of NormaTec recovery boots. Oh, and of course I got all checked in for the big race on Sunday!!
If you want to track me on Sunday I am bib number 489!
I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their Friday Five Link Up!
Goodluck on Sunday. Looks like you are having plenty of fun before the race. Hopefully you’ll be able to celebrate afterwards. I have never been to Boulder. Looks beautiful!
